Yesterday the University of California at Berkeley rescinded its suspension of a course, Ethnic Studies 198: Palestine: A Colonial Settler Analysis—a vehemently anti-Israel, one-credit, once-a-week, student-led course. The entire purpose of the course appears to be political advocacy and organizing, in violation of university policy for an academic class. California Regents Policy 2301 provides:
“The Regents…are responsible to ensure that public confidence in the University is justified. And they are responsible to see that the University remain aloof from politics and never function as an instrument for the advance of partisan interest. Misuse of the classroom by, for example, allowing it to be used for political indoctrination…constitutes misuse of the University as an institution”.
The course was so obviously political advocacy that the course poster [see Featured Image and below] used the completely discredited BDS propaganda map which was so false and misleading that MNSBC apologized for once using it during a news segment.

Andrea Mitchell has her unmentionables in major undulations over the fact that Donald Trump, Jr. posted a tweet analogizing terrorists hiding among bona fide refugees to a few poisonous Skittles in an otherwise okay bowl. And so on her MSNBC show today, Mitchell teed up Dem Rep. Adam Schiff to take a big swing at the Trump campaign. Schiff was only too happy to oblige, piously denouncing Trump, Jr., whom he described as a "rotten apple" falling not far from the tree. Schiff accused Trump, Jr. of saying "essentially, children who are fleeing the war and violence are like poison candy." The truth is that far from analogizing innocent children to poison candy, the point of the tweet was that terrorists would infiltrate themselves among the innocent to enter our country and wreak mayhem here.

House Science Committee Chairman Lamar Smith (R-TX) has demanded an interview with employees of the IT firm that handled Hillary Clinton's private email server. The demand comes after images of one employee on Reddit asking for advice on how to modify emails. Platte River Networks employees Paul Combetta and Bill Thornton "pleaded the Fifth Amendment when subpoenaed to testify about the server before the House Oversight Committee."

Just days after Chancellor Angela Merkel's party suffered a humiliating defeat in the Berlin state election, violent clashes between migrants and locals erupted in several German cities. On Sunday, Chancellor Merkel's Christian Democrats (CDU) got a drubbing in Germany's capital, with CDU's historic poor showing at the state elections. Right-wing party opposed to Mass-Migration, Alternative for Germany (AfD) outperformed the election forecasts securing 14 percent. AfD, only founded in 2013, is now in 10 state parliaments thanks to Chancellor Merkel's disastrous handling of migrant crisis. The first clashes erupted in the eastern German city of Bautzen, where apparently drunk migrants threw bottles at police and other locals. Authorities were forced to restrict the movement of the refugees and impose a ban on alcohol. The restriction aimed at young migrants caused an uproar among liberal politicians and media commentators who accused the local police and the mayor -- a leftist himself -- of 'acting in a racist way' against 'traumatised young migrants.' Leading German weekly Der Spiegel reported the temporary imposition of restriction on refugees in the city with the headline titled "Victory for the racists."

Late last year, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi was snubbed by President Obama during his visit to New York City for the United Nations General Assembly’s 70th meeting. Now, al-Sisi is gearing up to meet the two top challengers in the race to be the next Oval Office occupant.
An adviser to U.S. Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump's campaign said on Sunday that Trump will meet with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Monday during the United Nations General Assembly, just as Hillary Clinton, the Democratic presidential nominee, is also scheduled to do.

Republican congressman Ed Royce, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, has to be one of the best-informed, well-spoken, reasonable, fairly non-partisan Members of Congress. So when Royce appeared on today's Morning Joe to discuss the latest atrocity in Syria, in which the Assad regime barrel-bombed an aid convoy, he was initially given respectful "Mr. Chairman" treatment, until . . . Royce had the audacity, responding to Andrea Mitchell's question about Donald Trump's "embrace of Vladimir Putin," to refer to Hillary Clinton's failed "Russian reset." That set Mika Brzezinski off. After an "oh, wow" of incredulity, Mika demanded "can we at least be on the same planet here?"

Legal Insurrection readers who are also Rush Limbaugh fans know that one of El Rushbo's pet peeves is the way liberals have tried to co-opt the term "our values" into their political lexicon. There was a perfect—if annoying—illustration of the phenomenon on today's With All Due Respect. In clips of Hillary and President Obama, and during a live interview of Obama spokesman Josh Earnest, discussing the latest terrorist bombings in NYC and New Jersey, the v-word was bandied about no fewer than six times. On Saturday night, a pressure bomb exploded in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, leaving 29 people injured. Despite that pesky fact, MSNBC's Chris Hayes is thankful it was a BOMB, not a gun. https://twitter.com/chrislhayes/status/777895206846955520 I wonder if he would say that to those injured by the bomb. Anyway, the people of Twitter had a field day.

Last week, GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump said he would battle the "regulatory industry" that has prospered under President Obama. The Environmental Protection Agency has been the tycoon of this industry. Now, in what is hopefully a sign of turnaround, a court has ruled in favor of American farmers who have been pitted against the agency in a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit.
A federal appeals court recently overruled a lower court decision to throw out a lawsuit brought by the National Pork Producers Council and the American Farm Bureau Federation against the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency over its release to environmental groups of personal information on tens of thousands of farmers. In late 2015, a U.S. district court dismissed the NPPC-Farm Bureau suit for lack of standing. But the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit in St. Louis ruled that “the associations have established a concrete and particularized injury in fact traceable to the EPA’s action and redressable by judicial relief.”
