The House Oversight Committee has voted to hold former State Department IT aide Bryan Pogliano after he didn't show up for a hearing last week despite being subpoenaed. Pagliano set up Hillary Clinton's private email server when she served as Secretary of State:
“Subpoenas are not optional,” Chairman Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) said Thursday. “Mr. Pagliano is a crucial fact witness in this committee’s investigation of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s use of a private server to conduct government business.”

The details on the Charlotte riots and attacks on motorists trapped on the highway and others are in our earlier post. Instapundit (law professor Glenn Reynolds) was suspended from Twitter (then later reinstated) after posting the following tweet as those riots and highway blockades were ongoing: Instapundit Tweet Charlotte Riots Professor Jacobson has asked me to address whether such an act would be lawful as a justified act of self-defense.  I'm on a flight now using airplane WiFi, so I'll make this quick. Obama administration will be allowing plane makers Airbus and Boeing to sell jetliners to Iran, clearing the way for one of the most high-profile business deals since the lifting of nuclear sanction on Islamic Republic earlier this year. The easing of commercial restrictions is part of President Obama-led initiative to reward Iran for signing a Nuclear Agreement in July last year. According to U.S. Treasury's own assessment, as early as March 2016, Iran's civilian airliners were being used to illegally transport terrorist combatants and arms shipment in conflict zones across the Middle East. Iran's state-controlled airlines are not regular commercial operations geared towards customer satisfaction, but are made to carry out regime-sanctioned covert operations to arm and replenish the ranks of Syrian army, Hezbollah and other terrorist outfits under the guise their commercial flights -- coordinated by Iran's mafia-like Shia-Islamist ‘Revolutionary Guards’.

U.S. officials are now reporting that ISIS fighters have attacked U.S. and Iraqi forces with a "crude" chemical weapon that may have been a mustard agent.
The U.S base outside Qayyarah, 25 miles south of Mosul, was struck by a rocket and traces of a "mustard agent" were believed to be present, the official said. The attack was first reported by CNN.

The rioting in Charlotte turned even uglier overnight, after the apparently false claim that a black man was shot dead by police for pointing a book. All evidence so far shows that the "victim" was a career criminal who had a gun and turned towards police. This appears to be another false media narrative, just like "hands up, don't shoot" in the Michael Brown case, but it was enough to spark mobs of racist rioters and looters who attacked people and each other, including people trapped in cars. Anyone who was old enough to remember the 1992 Los Angeles riots after the police in the Rodney King case were found not guilty is old enough to remember Reginald Denny:

Back in March, we blogged about a story from San Francisco State University that could only happen on one of today's college campuses. A white male student was accosted by a young black woman who was also a student because he was wearing his hair in dreadlocks. The woman claimed this was a form of cultural appropriation. At the time, I wrote:
One of the most interesting aspects of this situation is the male student’s insistence that the young woman has no right to tell him what to wear.

This Insurrectionist regularly monitors Chris Matthews' Hardball show. And while there's little doubt that come November 8th Matthews will pull the lever for Hillary, he has given Donald Trump a fairer shake than other MSNBC hosts. I chalk it up to Matthews' regular-guy upbringing. Factoid: Matthews did a short stint as a Capitol Hill police officer. A striking example of Matthews' relative fairness came tonight. After airing a clip of Trump criticizing the police shooting of an African-American man in Tulsa, OK, Matthews repeatedly pressed Hillary surrogate Stephanie Schriock, the president of the pro-abortion rights EMILY's List, to agree that Trump was "right in saying that." She clumsily dodged and weaved, but under persistent questioning by Matthews, Schriock eventually conceded "yes, I think so." Said a satisfied Matthews: "that's all I'm asking."

On the educational choice battle field is a fight over whether school voucher programs, charter schools, or generically speaking -- school choice, increases instances of racial segregation. Choice advocates maintain allowing families to select an educational setting that best suits their child regardless of zip code restrictions effectively decreases racial segregation. "Your zip code shouldn't determine your destiny," is their rallying cry. No longer subjected to their respective economic zones, choice programs naturally increase educational equity for enrolled students. The free-market approach to education requires schools compete at risk of diminishing enrollment and subsequently, funding.

Charlotte Police just confirmed that a photo taken by a news reporter did in fact show Keith Lamont Scott's gun. Scott was shot and killed by police Tuesday afternoon. Locals rioted against alleged police brutality insisting Scott was unarmed and holding a book. BREAKING: CMPD sources...

Wednesday, the FBI released a "seeking information" notice featuring two men they believe may have information about Saturday's New York City bombing. The individuals are wanted for questioning. According to the FBI, the two men pictured riffled through luggage, removed a pressure cooker explosive device which they left sitting on the street. They then took the luggage and left.
