Uranium One is back in the news and it could spell trouble for former Vice President Biden. Sen. Grassley announced Thursday he was launching an investigation into the sale of "a sensitive U.S. technology company to the Chinese government and an investment firm run by the sons of Joe Biden and John Kerry," reports Fox News. The sale of which was approved by the Obama administration.

Former South Carolina Governor and US House Rep. Mark Sanford announced he will make a decision by Labor Day if he will launch a primary challenge against President Donald Trump in 2020. From CNN:
Sanford told CNN's Jake Tapper that he's been encouraged to run for president by people who "have said we need to have a conversation about what it means to be a Republican."

There have been some intriguing developments related to elections and California that may bode for a slightly less blue future for the Golden State. I recently noted that the state identified over 84,000 duplicate voter registrations during a detailed audit of rolls in the wake of Motor-Voter implementation. Now, a Republican won a seat in a recent Los Angeles City Council election, beating an enthusiastic advocate of the Green New Deal.

Yesterday, Israel denied visas for Reps. Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, after pressure from Trump, under a law permitting the government to bar entry to advocates of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement. The decision kicked off a firestorm, including false accusations by former Democrat Vice Presidential candidate and current Senator Tim Kaine that Israel had imposed a "Muslim ban".

Elizabeth Warren definitely is surging. She took a campaign left for dead early in the year after the DNA debacle and her Native American problem, and turned it around on the back of rolling out aggressive plans every few days to keep herself in the news cycle. It took a while, but being the center of news coverage for months appears to be paying off.

Rumors have started to float around that Corey Lewandowski, a former campaign manager to then-presidential candidate Donald Trump, plans to run for the Senate in New Hampshire. Those rumors gained fuel after news came out that Lewandowski will join Trump in New Hampshire on Thursday.

Former Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper officially ended his presidential run Thursday. Hickenlooper attempted to position himself as a centrist Democrat without success and failed to qualify for the third and upcoming Democrat presidential debate. In a statement announcing the end of his presidential campaign, Hickenlooper hinted at a potential Senate run. High-ranking Democrats are pressuring the former Governor to challenge Sen. Gardner as polling suggests Hickenlooper could unseat the first-term Senator.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has accused some British Members of Parliament (MP) of collaborating with the European Union to prevent Brexit. "There’s a terrible collaboration, as it were, going on between people who think they can block Brexit in parliament and our European friends," Prime Minister Johnson said during a question-and-answer session on Facebook.
