Sen. Susan Collins (R) is seeking reelection in 2020, but there are some growing signs that it will not be an easy bid for the centrist Maine lawmaker.  Collins' waffling during the confirmation hearings of Justice Brett Kavanaugh won her few (if any) friends or admirers on either the right or the left. And now the Cook Political Report has moved Collins' 2020 Senate race from "leans Republican" to "toss up."

Nationwide injunctions issued by a single federal district judge have thwarted dozens of the Trump administration's priorities. It's a rigged game, since the plaintiffs get to choose a favorable venue and can sue repeatedly. There are 94 judicial districts in the United States; the government could prevail in 93 of them but still lose if that last judge grants a nationwide injunction. The point here isn't whether the Trump administration is legally wrong sometimes. It obviously is. The point is the administration starts out with a near automatic loss at the  beginning regardless of whether or not it is right.

Mauna Kea, the tallest peak in Hawaii, is one of the best sites in the world for astronomical observations. In fact, a consortium led by Caltech and the University of California are planning to construct an 18-story telescope to contribute to the renewed interest in space exploration and discovery during the Trump administration.

Every now and then Bill Maher hits a left-wing dogma squarely on the head and it's particularly persuasive coming from someone who is on the left. We've covered several such occasions, even if most of the time we disagree with Maher. Maher just did it again with regard to the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, setting off a fury of recrimination from Rep. Rashida Tlaib and other anti-Israel activists.

The Palestinian grandmother of Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib wished "ruin" on President Donald Trump in an ongoing controversy over Michigan lawmaker's proposed visit to Israel. "May God ruin him," Tlaib's grandmother was quoted saying by news agency Reuters.

New York City Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Barbara Sampson determined multimillionaire sex offender Jeffrey Epstein committed suicide by hanging himself:
“After careful review of all investigative information, including complete autopsy findings, the determination on the death of Jeffrey Epstein is below — Cause: Hanging. Manner: Suicide.”
