President Donald Trump has informed Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) in a letter that he will honor her previous invitation to deliver the State of the Union in Congress on January 29. He told Pelosi, "It would be so very sad for our Country if the State of the Union were not delivered on time, on schedule, and very importantly, on location!" Pelosi shot back that she won't allow Trump to deliver the address in the House.

Believe all women, right? Isn't that what the left has been saying since the #MeToo movement began? Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) faces a lawsuit from a former staffer who claimed the congresswoman fired her after she said a former employee of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF) raped her in 2015.

Rep. Steve King (R-IA) is no stranger to racial controversy and it's nice to see the Republican party finally doing something about it. The Republicans have booted King from committees after he told The New York Times, “White nationalist, white supremacist, Western civilization — how did that language become offensive?” From Fox News:
"We will not tolerate this type of language in the Republican Party ... or in the Democratic Party as well," House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., told reporters. "I watched what Steve King said and we took action."

Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) announced that President Donald Trump will not sign the short-term funding bill the Senate passed last night. From Politico:
“The president informed us he will not sign the bill that came from the Senate last evening because of his legitimate concerns for border security,” Ryan told reporters after meeting with Trump at the White House. “So what we're going to do is go back to the House and work with our members.”
Ryan confirmed that the House also has "very serious concerns" when it comes to border security.

The government has three days to come up with a plan to avoid a partial government shutdown on Friday. As of today, it looks like if it happens, the blame will fall on the Democrats instead of President Donald Trump. The Democrats rejected the latest offer from the GOP even though the White House said officials may "have other ways" to achieve raising $5 billion for a border wall.

In December 2017, The Washington Post reported how the Office of Compliance for Congress paid over $17 million for 264 settlements and awards over various violations, including sexual harassment. Now Congress has agreed on a bill that members of Congress will be responsible for their own settlements instead of the tax payer. As of now, "settlements are paid through taxpayer-funded accounts members use to pay for office salaries and expenses."

The government needs to come up with spending bills by Friday or the government will shut down. Border wall funding has halted the talks as disagreements between the Democrats and President Donald Trump continue. Trump wants $5 billion, but the Democrats will not budge from their demand of only $1.6 billion.

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) remains confident that she'll become Speaker of the House again, but sixteen Democrats just threw a major wrench into her plans. The Democrats released a letter today, launched by Rep. Katheleen Rice (D-NY), promising to oppose Pelosi's appointment since they promised to "change the status quo" upon their arrival in DC.

You have to wonder if Representative Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) isn't kicking herself and hearing a constant refrain of "be careful what you wish for" drum through her head.  The House is back in Democrat hands as of January, but she's saddled with a rabble of socialist freshmen who are intent on shaking things up . . . starting with Pelosi's much-coveted prize, the House Speakership. Leading the socialist Democrat charge is newly-elected socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).  Not only is she hopelessly clueless about . . . pretty much everything, but she's so sure of herself that she's already attended a protest against her own party, specifically against Pelosi.
