Alternative Title:  “Election losers embrace secession to escape evil President’s second term.”

Tuesday, Nov 16, 2004 08:55 PM EST

If at first you don’t secede

Feeling they’ve lost any say in how the nation is run, liberals are turning to an unfamiliar philosophy: States’ rights.

Guess who was the secessionist leader (emphasis mine):

We need to focus on getting out the vote big time.  Sandy has been the perfect political storm for Obama.  It’s like calling three consecutive time outs before we were about to kick the winning field goal.

We care about New Jersey and the election. The notion that there is...

Have you learned to tune your t.v. immediately to MSNBC after any political event? If you haven’t, you would have missed an epic rant tonight against Obama from *up tingles* Chris Matthews where he chastises Obama for simply “enduring” through the presidential debate:

Maybe I should change the name of this series to the Saturday Night Chris Matthews Card Game, since Matthews is such a frequent topic lately.

Matthews doesn’t, apparently, understand that he was being mocked when Bill Maher asked whether Matthews was overly aggressive in charging racism (via RCP):

Bill Maher, host: “Chris Matthews. Are you taking...

What will the media do?  It has invested everything in the tape.

But there is a pretty fierce counterpunch being delivered on talk radio, on Twitter, in the blogosphere, and even on television when allowed.

There is good reason to believe that Obama’s post-convention bounce already is unbouncing, via Ace:

Come on Chris, just say that Mitt Romney is whipping up racism.  You spent almost the entire RNC doing that.  It’s your claim to fame, your reason to be on television, your destiny.

Why are you being so coy now, calling Romney “arrogant” for challenging Obama, as if no political candidate has...

Obama’s Middle East policy is in flames.  Literally, at multiple U.S. diplomatic locations which are sovereign U.S. territory.  The latest is the storming of the Embassy in Yemen, which is ongoing as of this writing.

Journalism also is in flames.  It’s back to 2008, with the media openly siding with Obama and...

With the benefit of some hindsight, I think I was too kind in my analysis.

Chris Matthews has gone farther and more aggressively than any other major television figure in the accusation that the Romney campaign and its supporters are using racism as a core campaign tool against Barack Obama.

Everything has become racist to Matthews.  The use of the term “Chicago.”  Arguments over Obama weakening welfare-to-work requirements.

Even when he...

There’s another aspect of the controversy.  Why did Costas and NBC feel the need to focus on Douglas’...
