Morning Joe Continues Anti-Rudy Rampage: Off Camera, People Say He’s ‘a Few Steps Slower’ Mentally

Morning Joe Continues Anti-Rudy Rampage: Off Camera, People Say He’s ‘a Few Steps Slower’ Mentally

And Was Mika Implying Something About Giuliani’s Personal Habits?

Last week, we reported on Morning Joe ripping the notion of Rudy Giuliani as Secretary of State, with Joe Scarborough saying “he’s temperamentally not qualified to be, and he’s not qualified to be it based on any experience or training or any contacts.”

This morning, the show was still on its anti-Rudy rampage, with Scarborough stating: “it’s one of these things that everybody says off camera. I’m going to tell you it to you on camera . . . Even people close to Trump say Rudy Giuliani mentally is a few steps slower than he was several years ago.”

Note: Was Mika Brzezinski suggesting something about Giuliani’s personal habits? She said that if Rudy were appointed, it would show that Trump didn’t appreciate the gravity of his job, and that “they’re sitting there in the country club laughing, chuckling and one of them drinking, a lot. And I’m serious. I’m serious. It’s not funny.” Trump is known to be a teetotaler, so just what was Mika implying?

Note segundo: The ripping of Rudy noted here was not a one-off: it was a leitmotif throughout this morning’s show, a clear campaign to nix Giuliani’s nomination.  And Jeremy Peters of the New York Times opined that it would be very tough for Giuliani to be confirmed by the Senate, tougher than it will be for Jeff Sessions to be confirmed as AG.  Among other things, Peters said that Rudy would not benefit from the senatorial courtesy Sessions would enjoy as a fellow member of the chamber.

MIKA BRZEZINSKI: I can’t imagine that he would pick Rudy Giuliani after the guy ran his mouth and got out in front of him through talking about how he’s going to get the job and how he turned down Attorney General. It would show that this President-elect has absolutely no understanding of the gravity of the job he has and they’re sitting there in the country club laughing, chuckling and one of them drinking, a lot. And I’m serious. I’m serious. It’s not funny. It would be a dangerous, bad pick. I don’t have to agree with everybody Trump picks. Obviously, this is not my team. But there are bright minds on the Republican side that could help him run this country and keep us safe. That’s not one of them.

JOE SCARBOROUGH: If you talk to anybody in New York City that knows Rudy Giuliani through the years, and I will just say this myself and not throw this to anybody else. It’s one of these things that everybody says off camera. I’m going to tell you it to you on camera. Especially if this guy may still be considered for Secretary of State. Even people close to Trump say Rudy Giuliani mentally is a few steps slower than he was several years ago. And everybody that knows the guy says he is not up to the job of Secretary of State.

Comments

It is clear that Mika and Joe have lost a step. They are not as sharp as they used to be so they are turning to personal smears to cover their failing abilities. Kind of like how Joe started wearing glasses to cover his crows feet.

Great comment, Matt. I can’t even stand to watch their miserable, meaningless show anymore. Losers, both!

And everybody that knows the guy says he is not up to the job of Secretary of State.

So, they went through the trouble of interviewing “everybody that knows the guy” in order to get the most accurate information for us.
Wow! I am impressed!
These people are reaally raising the bar for investigative journalism. Right?

Have Mika and Scarborough had a mental health assessment? It may be time.

Guess neither of them is familiar with the old story of The Boy Who Cried “Not Qualified”.

I think the whole country understands the importance of the job after the last two failures.

Just more slime from the slime masters.

You know someone told me Rudy Giuliani mentally is a few steps slower than he was several years ago.

Really…………….

I believe nothing at all unless it comes directly from ‘Sources’.

Not sure why what is said by Morning Joe deserves so much ink at Legal Insurrection. If you ignore the NYC and DC markets, the show has hardly any viewers. I guess this idea that they “set the tone and chose the themes/topics” like the NYT is maintained because others follow their lead.

I guess it has value as insight into the attacks that are forthcoming from the progressive media……I mean the media. But that is not hard to discern, and since Trump won has been very predictable.

casual: a number of readers have raised issues similar to yours. I hear what you’re saying, but as you anticipated, I do think it is useful to know what the MSM is saying. And although Morning Joe’s overall audience is not large, it is without a doubt the most-watched show among the political class.

I came to LI from NewsBusters, where the motto is “exposing and combatting liberal media bias.” MJ was my regular beat there, and I continue to report on it for LI with the same goals in mind. I do often blog on other shows, though. In the last few days, I’ve blogged about With All Due Respect, on Bloomberg TV, and about a CNN show.

Hope this is responsive to your concerns.

    Mark

It’s good to see an American doing the job no illegal would want to do. Hang in there.

Thanks for your succinct response. My comment wasn’t meant to be personally derogatory, but an observation that LI gives more time to that show than most others. But now that you point out your angle, I realize that MRC probably spends more time reviewing and highlighting what is said on that show.

And your statement is probably the best description as to why it might seem out of place on more generic blogs of the right, “..it is without a doubt the most-watched show among the political class.”

If this election has taught us anything, it’s that the political class is especially out of touch compared to even 10 years ago. And they are most likely disdainful of most of the deplorables who frequent sites like LI. As I said in my starting post, I guess the meaning (for me) for all subsequent posts about MJ will be to give insight into the what and how of attacks coming from the left. And perhaps the when, too. Keep up the good work. Better you than I watching it routinely…..

Thanks, casual. And as you suggest: we watch so you don’t have to 😉

And in fairness to Morning Joe, beyond the liberal blather, there are good insights at times. For example, from the day Trump announced, Joe and Mika were among the only members of the MSM to take his candidacy seriously, while others were mocking him mercilessly.

I have to ask, why does anyone watch this show. It is nothing but a liberal opinion platform for liberals and liberal thought. It exists solely to attempt to influence the heads-full-of-mush people who have nothing better to do with their morning and, presumably, their lives.

We all KNOW exactly how reliable the information imparted by this show is. We KNOW exactly what the aims and objectives of its hosts are. This show will only becme newsworthy if the hoists suddenly show support for the upcoming Trump administration. Until then, it is media diarrhea.

The two-term mayor of New York City is mentally challenged? This is really what we pay to hear by having satellite/cable tv. Time to turn all this garbage off for good.

” Even people close to Trump say Rudy Giuliani mentally is a few steps slower than he was several years ago.” Like anybody close to Trump would be speaking to Joe or Mika.
Putz’s.

Both of the last two Secretaries of State have been exceptionally dull-witted folks and were perfectly acceptable to the left. Giuliani’s infirmities wouldn’t be an issue to the left were he a Democrat. THAT bar can’t be set low enough.

“Both of the last two Secretaries of State have been exceptionally dull-witted folks ”

That’s a kind way to put it. Let me reword that a bit:

Both of the last two Secretaries of State have been traitors with the intellect of gnats.

It’s worth it to me to get a summary of what went on, and the videos are helpful, too. I am not going to waste time hunting up these squirrels, but there are people I know who believe their nonsense.

“Are you a player?!!??”

Black chick, Army Major, known only to me, utterred during Cobra Gold.

It could have been Ulchi/Focus Lens.

Screw it.
