No one trusts the media these days and for good reason. Biased reporting, a disproportionate amount of attention exerted towards tearing down conservatives and traditionalism, and supposed fact-based reporting sneakily meshed with opinion all contribute to the growing tension between the American people and the fourth estate.

During the 2016 campaign, there had been a lot of social media speculation about Hillary Clinton's health. That speculation was ridiculed as conspiracy theories and fake news. But when Hillary stumbled and almost fell during the 9/11 memorial, the conspiracy theories didn't seem so conspiratorial anymore. We all remember the infamous video, Clinton Collapse: Hillary rushed away from 9-11 ceremony:

Newsweek published an article this week which took direct aim at Irish Americans. Who knew Irish-bashing was still alive and well in the 21st century? The author of the piece is named Van Gosse and teaches history at Franklin & Marshall College. He's not kidding, either. He obviously sees this as a serious problem:
Why Are All the Conservative Loudmouths Irish-American? Just as they used to play an outsize role in the Democratic Party’s apparatus, and in organized labor, putative Irishmen are now the face of the hard Right.

Former President Jimmy Carter sat down for an interview with Maureen Dowd for the New York Times and dropped some pretty interesting bombs.  Dowd focused her write-up on his answer to her question about acting as a go-between for the Trump White House and North Korea.  He said that he would go if asked, and that's certainly both important and within his wheelhouse.  In the interview, however, Carter also defends President Trump and offers surprising assessments of former-president Obama, failed presidential candidate Hillary, and the media. His comments in defense of Trump might be seen as an attempt to ingratiate himself in order to be called upon to assist with North Korea.  Maybe.  But that doesn't explain his apparent candor in unflattering critiques of Obama, Hillary, and the media.

The remaining files related to the JFK assassination are required to be released on October 26th.  As the date approaches, the media began musing about how likely President Trump is to block their release, at least in part. On Friday, Politico published an article entitled, "Trump Likely to Block Release of Some JFK Files."  It is standard procedure to hold back and/or redact information that is potentially damaging to national security, but Politico makes it sound like some dastardly Trumpian plot to hide information from the public. The article was sourced by "anonymous White House officials" and was quickly picked up by other outlets and made the social media rounds.  Why a source needs to be anonymous to state the obvious is anyone's guess.

James O'Keefe and Project Veritas have dropped another undercover video with an employee from The New York Times admitting a left-leaning bias at the historic publication. NYT Senior Homepage Editor Desiree Shoe told the undercover reporter that the paper tried to influence the 2016 presidential election with its reporting and called Vice President Mike Pence "f*cking horrible" due to his religious beliefs.

The leftstream media is trolling the White House bigly over Ivana Trump's joke about being the "first lady." Having first decided there was something fishy about First Lady Melania Trump's decision to let her and the president's youngest son finish his school year in New York before moving to the White House, then created a flurry of accusations that Melania secretly hates her husband and won't hold his hand, they've now landed on an imagined insult to her from Trump's first wife, Ivana. I'm in favor of mainstream media reporters and news people speaking their political minds on social media. Let it all hang out, tell us how much you hate Republicans/Conservatives/Non-Liberals/Americans/Donald Trump/Deplorables etc. Lay your political biases on the table for all the world to see. If your news reporting is straight up and supported, it shouldn't make a difference. But be transparent.

You knew this would happen, right? The media can't resist the urge to tie anything negative to Trump directly or by extension. The ridiculous thing about this is that it's a blatant nothing burger. The whole point is to plant an association in people's minds.

Almost every day some mainstream media reporter breaks a story about how the White House is in meltdown and the only thing standing between the nation and the abyss is Chief of Staff Gen. John Kelly. Depending which "scoop" you are reading, Trump also is about to fire Kelly or Kelly's about to quit or Kelly is staying to protect the nation from Trump. These scoops create a media and political frenzy that have anti-Trump politicians and media talking about invoking the 25th Amendment or some other type of intervention.

Yesterday, Kemberlee wrote a super post about Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein and the myriad allegations of decades of sexual abuse, intimidation, and harassment of actresses, production staff, and apparently any female within arm's reach. From reports of Weinstein demanding naked massages from women to actually masturbating in front of women over whom he wielded immense power, Weinstein's decades of sexual perversion make the Trump Access Hollywood tape that outraged Democrats and the mainstream media look like a feminist manifesto.

Since President Trump's election, we've seen remarkable ideological turnarounds from the left.  Suddenly, communist Russia is the enemy rather than a model for the perfect society ala Bernie's decades-long admiration, the First Amendment is now of some import in protecting free speech (theirs and no one else's), and the unrestrained spending of the federal government is now a problem. These are the same people who have said nothing about Obama nearly doubling our national debt, who cue up to sing the praises of Bernie's Russia-inspired budget-busting lunacy regarding free college and Medicare for all, and who shrug and note that a few million taxpayer dollars used to train for a zombie apocalypse is merely a drop in the bucket of the federal budget.

Pew Research Center has released an extensive report on the media coverage of President Trump's first 100 days.  There are a lot of interesting tidbits throughout, but the overriding conclusion is the right-leaning outlets were more neutral in their coverage than left-leaning or "mixed" outlets. Further, Pew found that right-leaning outlets were more likely to present negative Trump stories than left-leaning outlets were likely to present positive Trump stories.

NBC News thought it had a big scoop when it reported that Vice President Mike Pence had to step in and convince Secretary of State Rex Tillerson not to resign in July after he allegedly called President Donald Trump a 'moron'. Tillerson held a press conference this morning to counter these reports and assure everyone that he has never considered leaving his post. The State Department has denied that Tillerson called Trump a moron. Despite this, the media remains focused on the 'moron' comment, which has now evolved from moron to f*cking moron.

Last spring when liberals were storming town hall meetings and angrily yelling at Republican congressmen, the images were unavoidable. All the networks, even FOX News, showed them for all the country to see. NFL fans who are angry about players kneeling during the national anthem haven't been so lucky.
