In late August, when Hillary was flying high in the polls, I predicted that while the race could tighten, it would take the equivalent of lightening striking for her to lose it.
If I were in Hillary’s position I’d run out the clock as well, and hope that lightning doesn’t strike the field.
Lightning struck Hillary at the 9/11 Memorial, figuratively at least. Prior to that, she already was slipping in the polls, as Trump put together a couple of weeks without self-inflicted wounds, and the stories about Hillary holding fundraiser after fundraiser with the super wealthy as she stayed off the campaign trail too a toll. When we look back at the campaign, if Hillary loses that will be the moment when she lost it. The convulsions and collapse were just part of it. The lies and coverup were much more important. The woman and her campaign can't tell the truth about anything, it's all spin. The 9/11 medical event reminded people why Hillary is so disliked.

As we reported recently, the College Republicans at Cornell University were stripped of their credentials by the New York Federation of College Republicans for endorsing Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson. The group is now fighting to be reinstated. The Cornell Daily Sun reports:

The plague of unbridled regulatory promulgation has sicked the American business environment, especially the environmental protection rule-making that has been especially toxic. During a detailed and address to the Economic Club of New York, GOP presidential hopeful Donald Trump offered his plans for creating robust economic growth by targeting the "regulatory industry", as well as tax reforms and better trade deals.

Recently, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated an obvious truth. The demand that Jews leave Judea and Samaria (the "West Bank") as part of a two-state solution is nothing less than a demand for ethnic cleansing that cannot be a basis for peace, Netanyahu: Ethnic Cleansing of Jews For Peace is Absurd: That video, and the truth underlying it, caused a fury because it took on a core (but false) international view that Jewish presence beyond the 1949 armistice line (pre-1967) is illegitimate at best, illegal at worst.

Hillary managed to get through her speech in North Carolina today appearing reasonably well. But by the time she got to a short press availability afterwards, she seemed noticeably more tired. And when she started to field some challenging questions about her secretive nature, including the fact that she had hidden her pneumonia diagnosis from her running mate Tim Kaine, she could be seen—no fewer than five times—glancing off stage, seeming none too pleased. We can't be sure, but it seemed as if she were signalling to staff: get me out of here! View the video and be the judge.

The House Freedom Caucus and Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) struck a deal to hold a hearing for IRS Commissioner John Koskinen, thus delaying a Thursday House vote to impeach him. The caucus had submitted a resolution to impeach Koskinen for impeding "Congress' effort to investigate the IRS for tough assessments of Tea Party groups that sought tax exemptions several years ago." Caucus members Members claim Koskinen failed to provide proper email documents and lied about deleting some emails. They also claim he has shown, “little effort to recover the lost documents.”

Yesterday, Mary blogged about the latest Wikileaks DNC document dump. But a separate document dump of hacked emails published by DCLeaks.com made public a trove of emails from former Secretary of State, Colin Powell. Unlike the DNC or Clinton email dumps, there exists no earth-shattering revelation of Powell's nefarious intentions, if he ever had any. His emails do reveal what he really thinks (or thought in some cases) about many a Beltway elite, and they're hilarious. No one was spared.

Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton claimed this morning that she is the most transparent candidate ever. Okay, bro. She said:
"I think I've worked very very hard to be more transparent than not just my opponent but really in a comparison to anybody who's run," Clinton told the "Tom Joyner Morning Show" in an interview aired Thursday. "The medical information I put out, and we're going to put out more, meets and exceeds the standards that other presidential candidates including President Obama and Mitt Romney and others have met."

I certainly don't want anyone robbed at gunpoint. Not even to a local leader of the Black Lives Matters movement despite the Black Lives Matter movement having taken on an anti-police call to action. There is great irony, however, when such a leader then also calls for more police protection, as happened recently in Houston with Jerry Ford, Jr.:

Ahead of this week’s EU summit in Slovenia, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, already suffering from low popularity at home, looks more isolated then ever at the European stage. Having backed Chancellor Merkel at the beginning of the Migrant Crisis last year, Government of Austria has long distanced itself from Berlin’s liberal stance on migrant influx into Europe. However, what worries Berlin today is the emerging alliance between Austria and the Central European countries of Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Czech Republic -- also referred to as the Visegrad group. Prominent German newspaper Die Welt viewed the new development with concern. “Should the five [countries] were to act in concert, this would create a new political power centre in Europe,” Die Welt noted. This new rival block could pose a serious challenge to German-French dominated “European Project”. Most Visegrad member states have been against Merkel’s liberal Migrant Policy right from its onset. Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban remains the most vocal opponent of Merkel’s Brussels-backed pro-migrant stance. “Europe's biggest problem at the moment is naivety.” Prime Minster Orban said while talking to reporters earlier this week. “[EU’s] migration policy is based on naivety and that's why we are in huge trouble today.”

Americans of color to the rescue? That's how MTV's Ana Marie Cox sees it. Appearing on today's Morning Joe, Cox said: "I feel like if Hillary Clinton wins in the fall, it will be because the black and brown people of America have saved us, like they do a lot of time." Cox, perhaps best known as founder of the Wonkette blog, was preceded on set by Marcela Valdes of the New York Times, whose recent article noted the lack of political engagement in Latino culture [emphasis added]: "through all my conversations, I began to fear the real roots of political engagement, which lie not in quadrennial outreach programs but around dinner tables and in churches and classrooms, are far more absent from Latino life in America than most people understand."
