Elizabeth Warren's presidential ambitions are taking hits from all directions. You expect it from the "dark money" "right-wing" "extremists" Warren complains about. But the cruelest cuts are coming form the left and her own once-upon-a-time supporters. And it all comes down to a problem Legal Insurrection has been following since May 2012, Warren's ethnic deception in claiming Native American status for employment purposes.

Elizabeth Warren's failed strategy to take a DNA test to quiet coverage of her false claim to be Native American for employment purposes as a law professor, continues to reverberate. Yesterday we posted about a NY Times article in which even Warren loyalists complained that Warren had severely damaged her presidential ambitions, Former Elizabeth Warren adviser: DNA test a “strategic failure” that was “depressing and unforgettable”.

The NY Times has an extensive report on the lasting and profound damage to Elizabeth Warren's presidential ambitions from her decision in October to release the results of a DNA test to supposedly prove she was Native American. When the DNA test was released, we noted the problems, Elizabeth Warren DNA test does NOT prove she’s Native American, contrary to the hype.

Elizabeth Warren and her Republican challenger Geoff Diehl met for their first debate on Friday night. Warren's DNA test came up right away, as she tried to spin it into an example of transparency. She also did her best to tie Diehl to Trump, but the most notable jab came from Diehl who hammered Warren's presidential aspirations.

Elizabeth Warren is not a spontaneous politician. Much like Hillary Clinton, every political move is planned out meticulously. It's why Warren has become notorious for avoiding unplanned encounters with reporters, where she can't control the format. Her preference has been to sit down only with friendly interviewers who will not challenge her in any meaningful way.

Elizabeth Warren is not Native American. Her ancestry has been traced by Cherokee genealogists back to the early 1800s, as far back as there are records, and there are no Native American ancestors. The one potential Native American ancestor was Warren's great great great grandmother, Sarah O.C. Smith, but an initial 2012 report about that was debunked and The Boston Globe was forced to issue a retraction.
