Tuesday had a bunch of primaries, but Florida and Arizona caught my eyes. Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum, a progressive backed by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), managed to win the Democrat primary for the Florida governor race and is the first black nominee for the position. Rep. Martha McSally (R-AZ), defeated former state senator Kelli Ward and former Sheriff Joe Arpaio in the Republican primary to take over retiring Sen. Jeff Flake's seat.

It seems like every few weeks, the Democrats roll out some new strategy or slogan which is intended to help them with the 2018 midterms. The newest one is completely doomed to fail. They're going to try to ignore Trump and not talk about him at all. This should end well.

The Republican National Committee (RNC) continues to break fundraising records as it hauled in $14.2 million in July. From CBS News:
The Republican National Committee raised $14.2 million in July -- the most it has ever raised in that month in a non-presidential year -- bringing its total haul for the cycle to $227.2 million. Despite historic odds and voter enthusiasm favoring Democrats, the RNC is finding record-setting support among its donors, according to numbers shared first with CBS News. The RNC raised more in July of this year than it did in 2010 and 2014 combined.

We're all working hard to understand the very special SJW language of the regressive left.  Apparently, this special language makes "jokes" out of racism against white people because privilege, and we just don't get the funny.  We aren't sufficiently "woke" to see that we are a blight on the planet. The regressive left has encountered an entirely new beast now: a black female democrat racially slurring an Asian female democrat.  The mind boggles.  We can almost hear them scrambling to make sense of this in their bizarre SJW-land where intersectionality is the rule of the day and racism is the purview of those "fascist" white supremacists.

The Cook Political Report has moved three House GOP seats to Toss Up from Lean Republican after new polling came out. Another race slipped a little, moving to Lean Republican from Likely Republican. While it may not seem like a big deal, we know the Democrats want the House back and any momentum the Republicans lose, you know the Democrats will jump on the opportunity.

Two weeks before Florida's primary day, Marc Caputo at Politico has some data that could dampen the hopes of the Democrat Party to gain wins in the swing state. The state's elections division shows Democratic voter registration in Florida fell by almost two points since 2016 while Republican voter registration remained steady.

Former House Speaker and current House minority leader Nancy Pelosi may have believed him back in 2013 when then-President Obama assured the nation that Pelosi will again be speaker.  The 2014 midterms came and went, and then the 2016 presidential election, and still Pelosi does not hold the Speaker's gavel. And it looks like she may not hold it again, even if the Democrats manage to take back the House this November.  While Obama is among the few Democrat voices supporting Pelosi for Speaker these days, she has to be a bit worried that so many Democrat candidates are moving on and have been doing so for some time.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a media darling. They love, love, love her. Her defeat of Joe Crowley in the NY-14 primary was to herald a new era in Democrat politics - a new, young Socialist face for the coming years. Ignored was that Ocasio-Cortez won her primary with only about 16,000 votes in a primary that had an abysmally low turnout (just under 12%). Crowley pretty much ignored her candidacy, allowing her to win with barely a 4,000 vote margin.

Republican Troy Balderson has a 50.2% lead in Ohio's 12th District special election over Democrat Danny O'Connor, who has 49.3% of the vote, to take over for Republican Rep. Pat Tiberi. The Republicans have held this seat for decades, but the Democrats saw an opportunity to give life to their supposed "blue wave" and poured an insane amount of money and attention into flipping this seat. Despite the vote count, both sides have claimed victory on this one. Yes, even the Democrats. They got so close, but does it matter? Should the Republicans be worried that it took a slim margin to win a historically Republican seat?

Should Republican congressional candidate Elizabeth Heng win California's 16th district seat this November, I might suggest she send the social justice brigade in charge of monitoring Facebook videos a big "Thank You." The social media giant's video team blocked one of her ads, but changed their mind once they received backlash.
