Many of us will look back on 2017 with some regrets. However, few will have as many as blue state Democratic politicos who decided to embrace the #Resistance instead of acting as true representatives of their states' citizens. Rather than negotiate or compromise with either President Trump or the Republicans, they have postured and tweeted away this past year as if there were absolutely no consequences to be faced. As 2018 opens, the bill has come due. I noted last week that the Department of Justice quashed a $3 million project with Los Angeles over that municipality's proudly proclaimed "Sanctuary City" status.

The data is in, and 2017's news cycle has been a veritable hurricane of #FakeNews, social justice drama, and progressive implosions! As I look back at the posts I prepared during the past 365 days, I have come to the conclusion that the media storm was scientifically predictable.

2017 is ending with a series of Arctic blasts impacting holiday travelers across the American heartland. One storm that has dumped more than 65 inches of snow in Pennsylvania, creating travel chaos and forcing one of the state's counties to declare an emergency.

Just before Christmas, Legal Insurrection noted reports that North Korea was loading potentially deadly anthrax bacteria onto intercontinental ballistic missiles as part of a biological weapons test program. The stated goal is to eventually deliver a payload of deadly pathogens to the United States. The challenge facing the North Koreans is that the heat generated from the missiles launch, flight, and strike is deadly to the lifeforms on board.

There has been a quite a bit of social media debate on Melania Trump's Christmas decor this year. America's glamorous First Lady focused on the magic of the season with her arrangements.
“The White House at Christmas traditionally has been a magical place for children,” The White House Historical Association explains. Since the 1800s, the White House has been home to Christmas trees (except under conservationist Teddy Roosevelt), elaborate decorations, and many Christmas parties and festivities.

Forget UFO's!  On Friday night, SpaceX launched a satellite that lit the evening sky over Southern California, dazzling and amazing spectators in California and Arizona.
SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket, launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base at 5:27 p.m., was carrying 10 satellites to low-Earth orbit. The satellites will be part of a constellation operated by Iridium Communications. All 10 satellites successfully deployed, with the last one deploying about 1 hour and 12 minutes after liftoff.

There have been some interesting developments related to North Korea this week. The U.S. military is conducting a series of drills with South Korea's military.  The training is intended to boost tunnel-warfare capabilities.
Hundreds of troops from the U.S. and South Korea conducted a joint training exercise dubbed “Warrior Strike” last week, South Korean military sources told the country’s Yonhap News Agency.

The last time we checked on WhiteHouse.gov, social justice warriors across the country were in a snit because the Trump administration had archived the progressive content posted by its predecessor. The official White House website has now gotten a complete facelift that promises to save American taxpayers as much $3 million annually.

It appears that the Trump Administration may be doling out even more policy goodness this Christmas season. A few short weeks ago it was being reported that the 2,400-page National Defense Authorization Act that Congress sent to President Trump contained language that contradicted his views on what constituted a national security threat.
...Changing climate is a “direct threat” to U.S. national security, endangering 128 military bases with sea rise and global destabilization that could fuel terror groups, according to the NDAA, which is a bipartisan compromise struck by the House and Senate.

Eco-activists enamored by alternative energy technology have long touted the potential for wind farms as a source of power. However, it appears that the industry's promises may be full of hot air. Take, for example, the funding for many projects. Many Americans are now coining the term "Big Wind" for wind farm installation firms who collude with government employees to obtain subsidies and funding for large-scale projects.

Perhaps no agency has been so public about its #Resistance to President Donald Trump and his efforts to drain the swamp and reduce regulations than the Environmental Protection Agency. Perhaps, then, it is fitting that as we approach the 1-year anniversary of the Trump inauguration, the agency's headquarters appears to be the epicenter of a draining swamp.

This weekend, I reported on the spate of fires that have erupted though Southern California, which included the Skirball Fire that threatened the famous Getty Center Museum, destroyed several posh Bel Air homes, and shut the 405 freeway. In a move that surprised nobody, Governor Jerry Brown was quick to blame all the infernos on climate change, but a cooking fire by a homeless person started the fire.
