Just before Christmas, President Donald Trump signed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act that has set America's economy on a trajectory to prosperity and put wealth back in the hands of its citizens. The new rules also substantially reduced the country's corporate tax rate to 21 percent, down from a fairly hefty 35 percent. Now, a pair of California Grinches are offering a bill that would ultimately divert some of the federal savings back into Sacramento coffers.

It seems California's Attorney General Xavier Beccera is taking the "general" portion of his title more seriously than the "attorney" portion. While waging the Golden State's War on Trump, Beccera is now threatening the state's employers with prosecution and fines if they voluntarily assist United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents identify illegal immigrants:

Last Jan. 20th, I celebrated the inauguration of President Donald Trump by binge-watching all the coverage while drinking champagne labeled "Liberal Tears". Courtesy of my friend and fellow Egyptophile, Terry Lee Ebert Mendozza, I was able to drink more champagne to commemorate the first anniversary of his administration with many of President Trump's initial campaign supporters during the Red, White, and Blue Celebration at Mar-a-Lago hosted by Trumpettes USA.

Federal Homeland Security agents raided 20 alleged “maternity hotels” in Southern California where pregnant Chinese women pay tens of thousands of dollars to live to ensure a “made in America” baby, reports said.

I had a wonderful experience touring the Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan presidential libraries in 2015, where I savored history and celebrated American culture. The plans for the Barack H. Obama presidential library seem to be taking a less scholarly turn, as they appeared to be geared to turning the facility into a progressive activity center:
The architectural centerpiece of the Obama campus—a 100-plus-foot-tall stone-clad tower—could also see its final look evolve. Though the designers confirmed the completion of 30 different studies for the structure, they would not elaborate on any changes. As far as programming is concerned, the tower’s top level will include an observation space open to the public while the museum itself would be accessible only by paying ticket holders.

It appears that the elite media is figuring out what has been transparently clear to me: After a full year of California's politicians waging a #WarOnTrump, the White House is now countering with its own policy blasts.
It's Washington versus California on marijuana, climate change, offshore oil drilling and immigration this week as bubbling disagreements between President Donald Trump's administration and California all seemed to spill over at once.

President Donald Trump's eraser is proving to be mightier than his predecessor's pen. After jettisoning the Obama-era lax pot rules, his administration is looking to dump another Obama-era legacy by nixing the massive restrictions on offshore drilling.
The Trump administration unveiled a controversial proposal Thursday to permit drilling in most U.S. continental-shelf waters, including protected areas of the Arctic and the Atlantic, where oil and gas exploration is opposed by governors from New Jersey to Florida, nearly a dozen attorneys general, more than 100 U.S. lawmakers and the Defense Department.

I wanted share with you some thoughts about the one movie I viewed last week: Darkest Hour, in which Gary Oldman portrays a newly-appointed British Prime Minister Winston Churchill who must decide the course to take after Germany's invasion of Western Europe begins. In a nutshell: The movie is enjoyable, and Oldman completely loses himself in the role. If Oscars still mean anything, he will certainly be nominated. Additionally, I was enchanted by the interactions between his wife Clemmie (played stylishly by Kristin Scott Thomas) and King George VI (a near reincarnation, played by Ben Mendelsohn). Those of you who enjoy the Neflix series, "The Crown", and movies such as "The Kings Speech" and "Dunkirk" will likely find this film a cinematic treat.
