A former employee has come forward with a new sexual misconduct allegation against California Assemblywoman Cristina Garcia, who gained fame for speaking out against sexual harassment and became a face of the #MeToo movement. David John Kernick claims that Garcia fired him because he refused to play "spin the bottle" and questioned why she would make staffers play the game.

We never have used pop-ups, pop-unders, pop-overs, autoplay audio ads, or any of the other type of ads that take over the screen to one degree or another. Particularly infuriating are the pop-up/over ads that have an "X" that makes you think you are getting rid of it, but in fact you are clicking on it. Forsaking such annoying ads had its cost since they were the most lucrative. That's a point I made during our semi-annual fundraisers in explaining the importance of reader donations. (See what I did there?)

Republicans currently hold a slim majority—51/49—in the U. S. Senate and are eager to retain their majority in this year's midterms. To that end, they have recruited current Representative Kevin Cramer (ND) to run for the Senate against incumbent Senator Heidi Heitkamp (D). This is a big deal because Cramer is considered the best challenger to Heitkamp in this pro-Trump state, but previously had declined to run.

Lobsters have gone from being considered "trash" food fit only for servants, the poor, and cats to being a much-loved, often expensive delicacy. Everyone has heard the myth that lobsters "scream" when tossed in a pot of boiling water—they don't, they have no vocal cords, but research does indicate that lobsters (and crabs) may feel pain. It is on this basis that Switzerland passed a law last year banning the boiling of live lobsters.  The law goes into effect on March 1st.

The Stoneman High School JROTC performed heroically during the shooting at their school in Parkland, Florida.  Two JROTC enlistees herded students and teachers into a room and shielded them with kevlar, their quick actions undoubtedly saved not only their own lives but those of others under their protection. A third JROTC member, Cadet Peter Wang, was just as heroic but did not survive.  Wang ushered students into a different classroom and was killed in his valiant efforts to save others.

We recently noted that the FBI dropped the ball on the Parkland shooter, having received a very specific and explicit warning about Nikolas Cruz in early January 2018. That warning, including that Cruz was a potential school shooter, was ignored by the FBI. Yet the more we learn about everything that came before the attack, the worse it gets. There were so many red flags.

There is nothing spontaneous about Elizabeth Warren's political career. Much like Hillary Clinton, Warren is very calculating and contrived -- she doesn't interact much with the press except in controlled situations or with obviously friendly media. Warren obsessively stays on script and sticks to talking points. Nowhere has the Warren Way been more evident than in how she has handled her Cherokee/Native American problem.
