After having to retract its "scoop" in the wake of facts about the Trump administration's handling of climate change reports, The New York Times is trying a different battle tactic. The Gray Lady is saying that critics are accusing Scott Pruitt, the head of the Environmental Protection Agency, of...carrying out his agenda in secret!
When career employees of the Environmental Protection Agency are summoned to a meeting with the agency’s administrator, Scott Pruitt, at agency headquarters, they no longer can count on easy access to the floor where his office is, according to interviews with employees of the federal agency.

Just a little over a year ago, an employee at Yale smashed a stained glass window at the school because he was angry over the image of African Americans carrying cotton. We covered it in this post: Yale employee smashes allegedly racist stained-glass window, Yale won’t press charges Not only did Yale not press charges, they rehired the employee with much fanfare. Now another piece of campus art has been altered for the sake of political correctness.

Some interesting developments in the case of James Damore, the Google Senior Software Engineer who now is a former Google Senior Software Engineer. He was fired after Google reacted badly to Damore's memo challenging explanations for the relative lack of women in software engineering. The memo was grossly misrepresented as being anti-diversity and anti-female in both the mainstream and tech media. The most senior Google executives joined in that tactic. One of the worst posts was by the CEO of Google's YouTube, Susan Wojcicki, who used her daughter as a prop to attack Damore:

The last 14 months or so have not been kind to Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz. First the DNC had emails leaked, which led to her losing her position as chairwoman. Then she caught fire when she kept IT aide Imran Awan on her payroll even after the FBI placed him under an investigation for stealing equipment and breaching the House IT system. She didn't fire him until officials arrested him on bank fraud charges. Now her party wants nothing to do with her. Some members spoke to Politico and put their names on their statements.

So the Massachusetts 2018 Senate race now is on the radar. Can anyone beat Elizabeth Warren? As reported months ago, Warren's polling is weak, but let's be serious here, it will be a monumental task for a Republican to defeat Warren. As in the race against Scott Brown, Warren can count on a flood of money coming her way, and it's liberal Massachusetts. While Brown ran a credible race, I always said that short of Warren being caught on video murdering someone, Massachusetts liberals were going to vote for her.

Radio host, TV host, and NRA spokeswoman has had quite a week. Journalists caused outrage after they claimed she said she wanted to fist The New York Times (she actually said fisk). Huffington Post's Yashar Ali penned a great and gracious apology on Twitter to Dana for his mistake. Now others have gone after Loesch for her explanation of the death of Philando Castile, including Rep. Kathleen Rice (D-NY).

One would think the way the left and media rails against President Donald Trump and the GOP in Congress the Democratic Party would be prepared to go into 2018 and make dents in Capital Hill. It helps that GOP donors have decided to withhold funds after the Obamacare debacle. Nope. In Politico, Michael Whitney, who led fundraising for Sen. Bernie Sanders' (I-VT) in the primaries, wrote that the Democrats have "a serious fundraising crisis" mainly because the party has a tough time convincing small-dollar donors to donate.

Despite Europe's politicians and the mainstream media continuing to downplay the migrant inflow that overwhelms the continent, the situation on the ground continues to deteriorate by the day. On Wednesday, beachgoers on a southern Spanish beach watched in horror as dozens of migrants stormed the shore, abandoned their boat, and fled into the countryside.

Today, I got a call from a client wanting to update their Business Contingency Plan to address fallout from a nuclear attack. This is not entirely surprising, given the escalation of North Korea's threats against Guam and the United States. The Millennials have long enjoyed a "peace dividend", courtesy of President Ronald Reagan's peace-through-strength policies, that have now been entirely spent. Perhaps realizing this, internet searches on surviving a nuclear attack have exploded in the last 48 hours.

Migrants who have either just arrived in America or been here for awhile have started to venture into Canada in record numbers by using the back roads to take advantage of loopholes in Canada's immigration system. The Associated Press reported:
Under the 2002 Safe Country Agreement between the United States and Canada, migrants seeking asylum must apply to the first country they arrive in. If they were to go to a legal port of entry, they would be returned to the United States and told to apply there. But, in a quirk in the application of the law, if migrants arrive in Canada at a location other than a port of entry, such as Roxham Road, they are allowed to request refugee status there.
