It doesn't seem that long ago that Chris Christie was a serious contender for the presidency, and here we are, four or five years later, and he's counting his lucky stars that the prosecutor decided against filing criminal misconduct charges against him regarding Bridgegate. Reuters reports:
New Jersey prosecutors on Friday said they would not pursue criminal misconduct charges against Governor Chris Christie in connection with the "Bridgegate" scandal.

As the prof so clearly explained, the progressive outrage at President Trump's refugee executive order is rooted in lies, more lies, and . . . yes, still more lies (the partial stay not withstanding as most of the EO stands).  Not content with their failed Occupy, BLM, and "women's march," they are now organizing to disrupt travel and otherwise make complete . . . erm, spectacles of themselves.  After all, nothing turns public opinion quite as quickly as loud, obnoxious, mis- and ill-informed lefties clogging up one's travel plans. The protesters, protesting President Trump's non-existent "Muslim ban," swarmed airports in Democrat strongholds on the coasts.

(ORDER added at bottom of post) A federal court in Brooklyn, NY, issued a temporary stay against enforcement of one aspect of Trump's Executive Order on visas and refugees. The suit was brought by the ACLU on behalf of two detained men seeking to prevent being sent back to Iraq. The Judge ordered a halt to removals of persons detained in the U.S. under the Executive Order. The lawsuit did not seek to challenge other aspects of the Executive Order.

Yesterday Donald Trump signed an Executive Order on refugees and visa entry procedures. You should read the actual EO, because most of the media and leftist pundits either have not or are lying if they have. There are some stark policy differences about immigration and refugees over which people can disagree -- those were argued at length during the election season. But the hyperbole and frenzy being exhibited in the media and by leftist pundits is hyperbole at best, fakery and lying at worst.

Mental health scientists will surely add a new term the next time they gather: Trumpophobia, the fear of all things pertaining to America's new president. Trumpophobia is not confined to the usual set of social justice warriors, either. Supposedly reasoned and experienced scientists have become unhinged over the past week, as Trump vigorously began fulfilling campaign promises.

While President Trump has spent the week undoing many of Barack Obama's executive orders and policies, I have been wondering about Michelle Obama's signature program: Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act (HHFKA) Legal Insurrection readers may recall some of the questionable highlights related to HHFKA as it has been implemented over the past eight years.

As President Trump moves forward on his campaign promises regarding illegal immigration, the progressive left is (delightfully) apoplectic. Sanctuary cities, in particular, are of special significance to them as Democrat mayors across the nation insist that they will resist Trump's efforts. Boston mayor, Marty Walsh, is taking his "resist we much" stance one step further and has declared that Boston's City Hall is now one big "safe space" for illegal aliens.  He asserts that illegals can move in and live right there at City Hall, presumably "safe" from deportation. It is not clear how far Walsh intends to go in harboring and protecting Massachusetts' illegal aliens from ICE.

Back in November of 2015, we covered a Black Lives Matter protest at Dartmouth College which loudly invaded a school library, making it impossible for students to study:

2018 is going to be a big election year for California. Not only do we get to pick a new governor, but we may get a chance to vote to secede from the United States of America as well. #CalExit, a #Brexit inspired movement in which California would secede from the union, has cleared an important hurdle and a secession measure would be on our 2018 ballot. I have previously reported that leader of Yes California (the organized, supposedly San Diego-based effort for this movement) is an American who lives in Russia and runs the independence campaign from there. Louis Marinelli has now gotten approval from California Secretary of State Alex Padilla to begin collecting signatures begin gathering signatures to place secession on the California ballot.
