In August, the GOP and PACs associated with it, started preparing ads that target Hillary in case Donald Trump couldn't make a comeback. Now that it's almost certain we will end up with Hillary, the GOP knows the importance of holding the Senate and the House has only grown stronger. With two weeks left, the candidates have unleashed these ads across the country, mirroring their opponents as too similar to Hillary and promise to keep her in check in the White House.

On Sunday, Leslie reported that the Pentagon has started to collect overpayments officials made to 10,000 National Guard soldiers in California to reenlist for war. Now House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has joined forces with California GOP members to ask the Pentagon to stop these collections:
“These brave Californians were willing to give everything to serve our country, and they earned every penny and benefit given to them," Pelosi said Monday in a brief statement.

In March 2015, President Barack Obama told CBS News that he did not know Hillary Clinton used a private email system when she served as secretary of state and claimed he learned about it from the news just like everybody else. Well, Wikileaks posted an email that proves otherwise: Obama Knew Hillary Email This was in March 2015. He repeated the same thing to 60 minutes in October 2015.

The newest frontier in political correctness on college campuses is the destruction of Halloween. Certain costumes have been deemed a form of cultural appropriation, offensive to others' sensibilities, and are therefore not tolerated. When a Yale professor suggested students chill out about Halloween costumes, she and her husband were verbally abused and driven from campus. In the past, choosing the wrong costume would do little more than make you unpopular with social justice warriors but at Tufts University, it could earn you a disciplinary investigation, including possible involvement of campus police. That fear is contained in a letter the fraternity and sorority leadership at Tufts recently circulated.

Could Donald Trump pull a Brexit, confounding elite opinion by winning the election with votes that the polls didn't pick up? On today's Morning Joe, Joe Scarborough and Chris Cillizza of the Washington Post agreed it could happen. Scarborough said that people are still whispering to him as they leave the room that they're voting for Tump, but are embarrassed to tell pollsters given the coverage of his comments about women, etc. There are limits to the phenomenon: in Cillizza and Scarborough's view, the hidden Trump vote is unlikely to exceed 1.5%. But if Trump can continue to tighten the race in these two final weeks . . . it could be a very interesting election night.

Earlier this month, Syrian 'refugee' Jaber Albakr committed suicide after being arrested over a plot to bomb a Berlin airport. Now the family of the ISIS bomb plotter is suing the German government. Alaa Albakr, the brother of the terrorist, who is seeking compensation from Germany, doesn't believe his brother took his own life. He is basing his legal defense on Islamic teaching, as his 'pious' refugee-turned-terrorist brother couldn't have killed himself because "suicide is forbidden in Islam". Unless you plan to blow up some infidel Kuffars in the process, to be more precise.

Surprise! (But only if you haven't been paying attention.) At the beginning of May, I blogged about the looming October Obamacare surprise -- seriously nasty rate hikes.
Unfortunately (or fortunately — depending on where you stand) for Democrats, pending rate increase announcements could not come at a worse time. Open enrollment begins the first week of November, just in time for Obamacare and independent health insurance consumers to take their sticker shock to the ballot box.

Is anyone at the New York Times pro-life? Times reporter Yamiche Alcindor won't say. On today's Hardball, discussion turned to Donald Trump's charge that the media elites are biased against him. Conservative commentator Hugh Hewitt posited that 90% of the elite Manhattan/Beltway media will be voting for Hillary and applauding her election. To test Hewitt's theory, Chris Matthews asked Alcindor whether she knew anybody at the Times who was pro-life. She first responded, "I'm not going to answer that question." To his credit, Matthews pressed the question, but Alcindor continued to dodge, eventually saying she hadn't asked any of her co-workers about it. Matthews seemed to conclude that Hewitt's point had been made.

Earlier this month, Mary covered the WikiLeaks emails that showed then-CNN contributor, now DNC Chair, Donna Brazile forwarded Team Hillary a question ahead of the second presidential debate.  Not only did the DNC not learn anything from the ouster of Debbie Wasserman Schultz, but now, a tech blogger finds proof that the WikiLeaks emails concerning Brazile are not "doctored" as she claimed. Fox News reports:
After Democratic Party boss Donna Brazile claimed emails showing her apparently tipping off Hillary Clinton to questions at a March town hall were “doctored,” tech sleuths got to work -- and now say they've found proof the emails are authentic.
