Democrats and their allies are trying to prevent Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-NC) from running again and they're using January 6th as an excuse. This has been going on for weeks. It's ridiculous and outrageous. Vice President Kamala Harris promoted a bail fund for people arrested during the Black Lives Matter/Antifa riots of 2020. Is she also disqualified?

Over the weekend, as Republican Glenn Youngkin was sworn in as Virginia's new governor and began to take immediate actions, reports emerged that other new Republican elected officials were also cleaning house. Newly elected Attorney General Jason Miyares relieved around 30 staffers in the AG's office of their duties, over the howling protests of Democrats in Virginia. Miyares has also taken immediate steps to reverse democratic policies on prosecutions for certain crimes, investigate high profile public corruption, and reverse radical climate policy. Reactions were mixed, based on the political perspective of the commenters.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said during a recent interview that if Republicans take back the House of Representatives in November, that certain Democrats will be stripped of their committee assignments. He pointed specifically to Adam Schiff and Eric Swalwell, who serve on the House Intelligence Committee and Ilhan Omar, who serves on Foreign Affairs.

Last week, we noted that Democrat lawyer Marc Elias has threatened to use January 6th to disqualify Republicans from running in 2022. As if by magic, a group is doing that to North Carolina Republican Rep. Madison Cawthorn. The challenge was filed by 11 people, but has the backing of a national organization dedicated to campaign finance reform.

The 2022 midterms are still almost a year away, but there are already some bad signs for Democrats. The state of Nevada seems to be trending red and Florida, which was already trending Republican is just getting redder. It's too early to know if this is part of a larger national trend, but it should still set off alarm bells for Democrats.
