Ending an 18-months legal battle, Israel’s Supreme Court decided last Tuesday to uphold the Interior Ministry’s refusal to renew the work visa of Omar Shakir, who had first entered the country as “Israel and Palestine Country Director” of Human Rights Watch (HRW) in February 2017. The court reportedly ruled that Shakir must now leave Israel within 20 days. As I have previously documented in considerable detail, both Shakir and his employer HRW have a long record of anti-Israel activism. (See here and here).

The head of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for "Palestinian Refugees" (UNRWA) has been suspended amid ongoing investigations into widespread corruption under his watch. Internal investigations "revealed management issues which relate specifically to the (UNRWA) Commissioner-General" Pierre Krahenbuhl, a statement issued by the UN said on Wednesday.

2020 presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), who is Jewish, received the endorsement of anti-Israel Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) over the weekend. Then on Monday Sanders announced his own "quid pro quo" to Israel. He even said he would use American aid to Israel as "leverage" to force the country to "change their behavior."

The Czech parliament passed a resolution last Tuesday condemning the Israel boycott movement as antisemitic. The non-binding resolution calling on the government to stop funding to groups promoting the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement against the Jewish State, was adopted with overwhelming support from the deputies in the country's Lower House, receiving 120 votes in favor and 20 against.

2020 Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Elizabeth Warren threatened to cut off Israel if the country moves "in the opposite direction" of a two-state solution. From The Hill:
"Right now, Netanyahu says he is going to take Israel in a direction of increasing settlements, [but] that does not move us in the direction of a two-state solution," Warren responded when asked what her stance was on aid and settlement-building.

Israel's Ministry of Strategic Affairs has released a report exposing the antisemitic agenda being the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement (BDS). The anti-Israel boycott campaign now direct "classic antisemitic tropes and motifs once directed at “the Jew” at “the Jew among the nations,” the State of Israel," the reported said. Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Gilad Erdan released the report titled Behind The Mask: The Anti-Semitic Nature of BDS Exposed at the European Parliament building in Brussels. The minister urged the European Union and Western governments to stop funding organizations promoting the antisemitic BDS movement.

Israel held an election after the last election left the nominal winner, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud Party, unable to form a majority coalition. This time around, the result may be the same. Based on exit polls, which have been wrong in the past, there is no clear 'winner' -- keep in mind it's not like here where one party gets a majority. In Israel, whoever is able to form a coalition of 61 Knesset seats is the winner, and that can take days or weeks.

The U.S. Ambassador to Berlin, Richard Grenell, has urged Germany to ban the Islamist terror organization Hezbollah from the country. Writing in the German newspaper Die Welt, the envoy called on Chancellor Angela Merkel's government to outlaw the Iran-backed terrorist group that has been "murdering innocent people from Lebanon to Syria, Thailand, Bulgaria, Spain and Argentina" for 37 years.

In the aftermath of Israel barring entry of two far left-wing anti-Israel members of Congress, Democratic politicians began to worry that Israel was becoming a wedge issue rather than an issue with bipartisan support. Staunch pro-Israel Congressman Eliot Engel (D-NY) said “refusing entry to members of Congress looks like Israel [is] closing itself off to criticism and dialogue. This decision will only strengthen the anti-Israel movements and arguments many of us find so troubling, further politicize support for Israel in the United States and ultimately play right into the hands of Israel’s enemies.” (Emphasis added.)

Israel has attacked Iranian bases in Syria to preempt the launch of a squadron of bomb-loaded attack drones that were in the final preparations for launch. The planned drone attack was personally supervised by Iranian Quds Force Commander Qassem Soleimani, according to the Israel Defense forces, which in an unusual move took to Twitter to announce the preemptive attack:

Ninety years ago, in 1929, Arabs went on a murderous anti-Jewish rampage in the British Mandate for Palestine, ransacking ancient Jewish communities in Hebron and Safed (Tzefat). In the course of the week, a total of 130 Jews were dead.

The Palestinian Authority (PA) has banned LGBT activities in the West Bank, launching a search for gay rights activists. The main target of the crackdown is a group called Al-Qaws for Sexual & Gender Diversity in Palestinian Society. The leading Palestinian gay rights group was planning to hold a meeting of its members later this month. "The attack on us is unprecedented," a member of Al-Qaws told The Jerusalem Post. "They are calling us traitors and corrupt people, and many are calling for our execution. We are afraid for our lives."
