Hillary Clinton Tag

Remember Wendy Davis? She was the Texas Democrat who became an MSM darling for her filibuster against a state law restricting abortions. Davis exploited her 15-minutes of fame by running for Governor of Texas in 2014. But despite the backing of an adoring press, Davis got demolished, losing by more than 20 points to Greg Abbott. For the record, my home county of Hood showed its scorn by awarding Davis all of . . . 18.9% of the vote. So when on today's Morning Joe, Politico co-founder Jim VandeHei claimed that Hillary Clinton is so far ahead that she has a better shot at winning Texas than Trump has of winning the presidency, this adopted Texan had to laugh.

Yesterday, Wikileaks said a state cut off founder Julian Assange's internet access at the Ecuadorian embassy in London, which led to theories that he died. But today, the anti-secrecy website claims Ecuador cut off Assange's internet, nine days into Wikileaks email dumps of Hillary Clinton campaign chair John Podesta's emails. https://twitter.com/wikileaks/status/788099178832420865 Ecuadorian embassy employees or ambassador would not comment on the tweet. Wikileaks has also released more Podesta emails.

The fight for the Senate continues to grow tighter, which has led Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton to push even more of her campaign money to Democrat senate candidates. The Democrats only need five seats to take the majority or four if Hillary wins. Politico reported:
Clinton, who entered October with more money than any other candidate ever at her disposal, will spend more than $6 million total on paid media and get-out-the-vote efforts in the battleground states of Ohio, Florida, Pennsylvania, Nevada, North Carolina, Iowa, and New Hampshire — each of which also has Senate races — said campaign manager Robby Mook on a conference call with reporters on Monday.

During the past week-and-a-half, the elite media has been on a mission to obliterate Donald Trump's candidacy with late-coming charges by women whose stories are being challenged by people in positions to know the truth. On the other hand, the coverage of the WikiLeaks information related to Hillary Clinton, her Goldman Sachs speeches, the Clinton Foundation's corruption, the war on Bill Clinton's accusers, the war on Catholics, collusion with the Department of Justice, and the media collusion with her campaign has been dripping out slowly. Fortunately for the Republican candidate, the American people's trust in the American press is such that Google searches for the term "Wikileaks" has dwarfed the searches related to the Trump scandal. How is the ginned-up Trump scandal actually impacting women voters? While my vote has remained unchanged, I was interested in what other female supporters were saying.

WikiLeaks' release of the Podesta emails includes exchanges among Team Hillary on two matters related to her and Bill Clinton's shady past when it comes to women.  In December, 2015 they shared the reaction to Hillary's bizarre statement that victims of rape and sexual assault "deserve to be believed," and in January, 2016, they discussed how to deflect or discredit Juanita Broaddrick's claim that even after nearly 40 years she is still haunted by her alleged rape by Bill Clinton. In an email chain entitled "FYI," Team Hillary alerts its members to the fall-out from Hillary's ridiculously idiotic (given her and husband's history) statement about women being believed, a credo she and Bill have never lived by. This all seems to have started with a tweet from Jennifer Epstein, a "reporter" who covers Hillary Clinton for Bloomberg. The tweet itself appears to have been deleted; however, the internet being the internet, it is cached.

Donna Brazile, a CNN contributor and at the time DNC Vice Chair (now Chair), was caught through the Wikileaks Podesta email dump feeding to Hillary's campaign a question to be used at a CNN presidential town hall. We covered the story previously, Brazile Gave Hillary Campaign Town Hall Question in Advance:
The Wikileaks dump of Hillary Clinton campaign chair John Podesta emails shows that then-CNN contributor, now DNC interim chair, Donna Brazile gave Hillary a question ahead of a CNN town hall. Brazile sent this email to Podesta and a few aides, with the subject “From time to time I get the questions in advance.”

The Hillary Clinton email scandal just got much worse. New files indicate the possibility of "quid pro quo" between the State Department and the FBI. FOX News reports:
New FBI files contain allegations of 'quid pro quo' in Clinton's emails FBI interview summaries and notes, provided late Friday to the House Government Oversight and Intelligence Committees, contain allegations of a "quid pro quo" between a senior State Department executive and FBI agents during the Hillary Clinton email investigation, two congressional sources told Fox News.

You may recall that the State Department produced certain Sidney Blumenthal emails with Hillary Clinton that were not included in the emails Hillary turned over to the State Department. The story of more Blumenthal emails beyond what Hillary turned over called into question Hillary's repeated claim that everything work-related was turned over to the State Department, and only purely personal emails (like regarding Yoga) were deleted. In searching the Wikileaks database of the Podesta email hack, Mary found the email exchange below which shows that the Clinton campaign received a heads up that the State Department was to produce the emails to a House committee, and team Clinton scrambled to prepare a response in advance of the State Department turning over the emails to Congress. There are several aspects of this email that are important, including that the State Department was considering planting a story with a friendly reporter at AP and that the Clinton campaign and the State Department were working together to create messaging for Hillary:

The fact that Russ Feingold is even running for Senate is proof that the Democratic Party has no back bench. Feingold is a re-run who served in the Senate from 1993 to 2011. He is a big fan of Hillary, too. He even thinks she's trustworthy. The Journal Sentinel reports:
Russ Feingold calls Hillary Clinton 'trustworthy' Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Russ Feingold called Hillary Clinton "reliable and trustworthy" Monday but reaffirmed his stance that if she's elected president she should consider shutting down the Clinton Foundation.

There are varying levels of horrible results for conservatives in the upcoming election. Based on current polling, it certainly looks like Hillary will be the next president. You can argue whether that is better or worse than the alternative for conservatives, but there is no serious argument that losing either the House or the Senate is horrible. In the case of the Senate, it will pave the way for Hillary to push through disastrous judicial nominations. And yes, expect Majority Leader Schumer to raise the nuclear option to the Supreme Court level if Democrats control the Senate by even a single (tie-breaking) vote. The Senate could go either way at present polling. But the House is what stands between conservatives and the political abyss. Think of where we would be if in the first two years of his presidency, when Obama controlled both houses of Congress, he had focused on passing a wide-ranging legislative agenda rather than focusing on Obamacare. All of the executive orders and actions that have been questioned by the courts and can be reversed by the next president would have the force of legislation. Assuming Hillary is the next president and wins in a landslide, Republican control of the House may be the last line of defense.

Green Party candidate Jill Stein is no fan of Donald Trump, but she's apparently more concerned about the prospect of a Hillary Clinton presidency. During a recent appearance on C-Span, Stein suggested that Hillary would use nuclear weapons in a war with Russia. Transcript via Real Clear Politics:
Jill Stein: Trump Is Less Dangerous Than Clinton; She Will Start Nuclear War With Russia It is important to not just look at the rhetoric but also look at the track record and the reality is the lesser people and greater people is a race to the bottom, and even Donald Trump in the right wing extremism grows out of the policies of the Clintons, in particular Nafta, which sent our jobs overseas and Wall Street deregulation, which blew 9 million jobs up into smoke.

If it's up to the liberal media, Blessed Teresa of Calcutta is just going to have to take a back seat: there's a budding new saint in town, and her name is Michelle Obama. Morning Joe began the canonization process today, beatifying the First Lady for her speech trashing Donald Trump over the stories about his personal behavior that have recently emerged. All the ongoing glorification of Mrs. Obama on the Morning Joe set was leavened with some unintentional humor from Joe Scarborough, who said of the First Lady's speech that "there was nothing calculated about it. This wasn't to help Hillary Clinton." Right. A speech delivered three weeks before the election. At a Hillary Clinton campaign event. At a podium festooned with a 'Clinton-Kaine' banner. But it was strictly "about daughters and mothers and women all across America." Hand another hanky over, will ya?

As LI readers are well-aware, we value and seek to protect the Second Amendment.  A stance, it would seem, Team Hillary rejects.  A Project Veritas release shows Russ Feingold stating that Hillary "might" issue executive orders on guns should she be elected next month. The Washington Free Beacon reports:
Russ Feingold, the former Democratic senator from Wisconsin who is running again in an attempt to win back his old Senate seat, was recorded at a fundraiser saying that Hillary Clinton might issue an executive order on guns. The video was captured by James O’ Keefe’s Project Veritas at an Aug. 17, $2,700 per-head fundraiser held at the Palo-Alto, Calif., home of Democratic donors Amy Rao and Harry Plant. Palo-Alto is located 10 minutes away from Stanford University, where Feingold taught after leaving his position as a special envoy at the U.S. State Department. Feingold can be heard in the video discussing what Hillary Clinton could do in relation to guns if she were to be elected president. “If there’s still Republican control in Congress, and if Hillary is elected, is there anything she can do to uhh…,” a person asks Feingold within the video. “Well, there might be an executive order,” Feingold responds.

The Wikileaks email dump from campaign chair John Podesta will not help Hillary Clinton put to bed her email scandal. In one chain, campaign members discussed ways to frame her statement about her use of a private email server to evade responsibility and keep the press in the shadows: Hillary Email Statement However, not everyone within the campaign eagerly jumped on the bus to make excuses.
