You can hide, but you can’t run

From reader J, spotted in Charlottesville, VA:

From the Berkeley of the Blue Ridge, along comes a person who really “gets it…”

When they say “keep your laws off my body!”

Posted by  ▪  Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 7:00am 2/9/2013 at 7:00am

… what they really mean is “Put Your Laws All Over My Body” except as to abortion.

All in

That was the subject line in the email from reader R.

I don’t know how much more of this Utopia I can take

From John:

Found this gem whilst delivering mail in a large Democrat-run city in Connecticut.

I guess if you’re always on the road to Utopia, technically there’s still hope.

(In)Dependence Day

From Jeff in Massachusetts:

I saw this bumper sticker and thought you might get a chuckle.

It’s a little hard to read, but it says “Republicans believe that every day is the 4th of July. Democrats believe that every day is April 15th.”

Not even for Kony? Or Mahmoud? or Kim?

Saw this bumper sticker on my fortnightly visit to the library with the kids.

Somehow I don’t think the driver intends to make a theological statement as much as a political one. I think people who naively spout tripe like “America is no different than other countries, neither better nor worse than any other nation” clearly have not contemplated the “joys” of living under a totalitarian regime a la North Korea.

Keep on fighting the good fight!

From Carroll:

The small sticker didn’t come out good in this pix but it says “The best things in life are Obama’s”.

Seen in Tucson.

Keep up the good work.

From Sandy, spotted on a car with Virginia plates:

Meant to send these to you earlier, saw the sticker on a car in a local parking lot (post election, during the holidays).

Sums my belief precisely.

Stay strong, keep the faith.

I can see 2014 from that gun show

Posted by  ▪  Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at 7:00am 1/22/2013 at 7:00am

in a blue county in Ohio.  Could this be to 2014 what Obamacare was to 2010, an issue which cuts across party lines outside of the big cities?

From Kathryn:

Thought you might be interested in a couple photos from the very blue Lucas County, Ohio, gun show. The first is a pic from the line which wrapped around the corner at 8:15 a.m. just to get in. One guy said in 60 years he had never seen such a packed gun show. Another who happened to be a local police chief was buying 5 guns for family members; he said he would never enforce gun confiscation.

MOST odd was this vehicle I passed while entering the building. The guy must have arrived early since he got a close parking spot; we had to park way out. What the heck would a guy like this be doing at a gun show? Everybody else was talkin’ trash about Obama and the “Dont Tread on Me” flags sold out in an hour.

From “D” in Rahm-town:

I saw this sign yesterday outside a church in Obama’s old neighborhood, one block from the University of Chicago campus.

No matter how you interpret it, we are up against a lot of Kool-Aid drinkers.

Keep up your fine work.

Well regulated pants

I didn’t get the pants reference at first.  Now I get it.  This sounds like a possible threat to human rights.

From frequent photographer 9th District Neighhor:

I photographed this proud Second Amendment supporter in a Walmart parking lot in Mount Prospect, IL.

In addition to this sticker, there was a “terrorist hunting permit” sticker on the rear window and another sticker on the other side of the bumper which wouldn’t photograph well but read, “Protected by the 2nd Amendment”.

Protest, but which one?

Posted by  ▪  Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 7:00am 1/19/2013 at 7:00am

My first reaction was that the sticker was a pro-2nd Amendment protest.  But on reflection, I’m thinking it’s anti-gun in reaction to the Newtown shooting.

From commenter Markinct:

Seen in Hartford, CT on the 15th of January…

A Prius in the Northeast? Check

Bumper sticker extolling the virtues of organic food? CHECK.

A “You’ve Entered Gun Country” bumper sticker? whaaat?

I’m not sure what’s more applicable, “Cognitive Dissonance”, or “A study in contrasts…”

I love your blog, and its collegiate offspring. I’ve been a reader for quite some time, and finally got around to registering (as markinct)… I promise not to get too chatty in the comments.

Obama Phone!

Posted by  ▪  Friday, January 18, 2013 at 7:00am 1/18/2013 at 7:00am

From “Loyal LI reader J from Illinois”

Saw this the other day and managed to snap a picture.

I can’t tell whether the “free government phone” banner is with the cheap smokes place or the cell phone place, but I find it hard to imagine the cell phone store helping out their direct competitor – unless various cell phone carriers are in cahoots with the program to get some boodle somewhere along the way….

Thanks for all your hard work & effort!

Dear Prof.,

I was in Philadelphia yesterday and ran into the OccupyPhilly crowd around city hall. This sign caught my attention, because it seems to have been left there from a Tea Party rally…

Bully Fighters

Posted by  ▪  Monday, January 14, 2013 at 7:00am 1/14/2013 at 7:00am

Another one in LukeHandCool’s New Roads School series (also here), taken a few days after the election:

Andrew Breitbart was The Lonely Bull(sh*t Fighter).

I think each and every one of us feels like a matador now … not in a bullring, but at the Running of the Bulls.

Let us join the left in battle in the popular culture. Culture is the whole ballgame. Let us use wit and common sense as a cape to make them charge wildly. Let us Work!

We shall mock and ridicule them in the streets, and in the bullrings, … satirize them in the classrooms and in the popular culture; we shall never surrender.

We are The Lonely Bull(sh*t Fighters).

Hope you can use this picture (and give us a tune). Now politics is over they say. I wonder if getting to the bottom of Benghazi would be considered politics? Or work to be done?

I wonder if the school’s Administer of Signage initially wanted to write “Work Forward!” but ran out of letters?
