Comments
Way too early prediction:
The conventional wisdom is wrong (because the conventional wisdom is largely a mouthpiece of the left).
The Republicans will not only keep the House, their majority will increase.
Same in the Senate.
Once the midterms are over, and Trump’s control of the party is beyond debate, the logjam will release. Thune will suddenly be persona non grata. Appointments will be voted on, bills favorable to the administration will pass and the influence of MAHA will dwindle as the usefulness of those idiots is up.
What’s wrong with MAHA? To be clear I ain’t among their zir hard ranks but much of what they propose seems like good policy. Transparent labeling in grocery items, especially Nation of origin,.seems good. So does revising the goofy prior food pyramid that had way too many carbs. Likewise a return to pushing exercise, particularly in schools, to develop and maintain basic physical fitness. Those lead to better understanding and ultimately better outcomes as obesity is knocked back and the many health problems that accompany it, not to mention less use of scarce medical resources/hospitalization, less Rx drugs needed to address obesity inflicted problems like diabetes, heart conditions, orthopedic injuries and so on. Personally I’d rather prefer to keep the folks who were opposed to Fauci Fascism/Rona Mania policies like mandatory vax as allies. Folks who champion individual liberty and oppose big govt with cost saving policy ideas seem like just the sorts we want to stand with.
I can only hope (and vote).
I am actually rather concerned. I like to hope that the Republicans will do well at the midterms, and I’m encouraged by the primaries.
However,
1. It’s a long time til the primaries and Iran is doing a good job of dragging things out. “It’s the economy…”
2. Generally speaking the Democrats are going to retain their seats because, generally speaking the incumbent party keeps their seats. If the map-trick doesn’t produce the hoped for results and there are a few upsets (see #1. above) things could go wrong.
3. Never, ever, underestimate the ability of the Democrats to rig elections.
Regardless of the actual outcome of the elections, I foresee more and more violence against Republicans. The level of hate against Trump is actually at psychopathic levels. I know educated people who seem intelligent but literally go into incoherent rants about Trump. Naturally, anyone whom they can find a way to associate with him is a fair target for actual physical violence.
Too long? Didn’t read? Summary:
There is going to be blood in the streets this summer as true haters make banzai charges
#3. Most importantly.
The US Postal Service delivering ballots only to US living US citizens will have a bigger impact than the redistricting.
