Jewish Couple Attacked With Baseball Bat and Dog in Santa Monica by Man Screaming ‘Genocider’

Jewish Couple Attacked With Baseball Bat and Dog in Santa Monica by Man Screaming ‘Genocider’

“Preliminary information indicates the suspect … was driving on Broadway when he stopped in traffic and began yelling threats at two people crossing the street.”

A Jewish couple in Santa Monica, California, was attacked by a man with a dog and a baseball bat who shouted ‘genocide’ at them. Witnesses said the area has a significant homeless population, including many individuals who appear to be mentally unstable. But that does not explain the antisemitic nature of the incident.

Hatred of Israel and by extension, Jews, is everywhere right now. We see it on college campuses, on social media, and on America’s streets.

KTLA News reports:

Jewish couple in Santa Monica attacked by man who shouted ‘genocide’

A chaotic and violent scene unfolded at a busy Santa Monica intersection on Sunday when a man shouting obscenities first chased a couple, then attacked them with his dog.

The suspect, identified as Tar Nay, faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon and making criminal threats.

The incident happened around 5:20 p.m. at Broadway and the Third Street Promenade pedestrian mall. Video shared on social media shows the suspect first driving slowly through the intersection while brandishing a baseball bat and yelling at the couple.

“Preliminary information indicates the suspect … was driving on Broadway when he stopped in traffic and began yelling threats at two people crossing the street,” the Santa Monica Police Department said.

Moments later, he gets out of the car and chases them while shouting “genocide” and “genocidal,” the video shows. The couple believes they were targeted because they are Jewish.

After the initial confrontation, the suspect returned to his car, then came back with his dog, a male Cane Corso, which bit the male victim on the thigh, police said. He then got back into the car with his dog and drove away.

The victim was treated at the scene for a minor wound.

Police say the suspect was yelling at several people in the area and, at this point, they cannot say for certain whether the incident qualifies as a hate crime. They did not share how or where Nay was arrested. The dog, they said, was taken to a local animal shelter.

Here’s a video report from CBS News in Los Angeles:

More from the Santa Monica Daily Press:

Police investigate possible hate crime after man uses a bat and dog in Promenade assault

A man was arrested Sunday after allegedly threatening two pedestrians with a baseball bat and unleashing a dog that bit one of them in the thigh, as investigators examine whether the attack was motivated by hate…

Officers from the Downtown Services Unit located and detained Nay a short distance away on 4th Street. Witnesses provided statements and video evidence from the area was collected…

SMPD said detectives are reviewing whether the incident constitutes a hate crime, citing reports, body-worn camera footage, witness statements and available video. The department acknowledged public concerns that the attack may have been motivated by bias.

Amazing.

This video is longer.

This is a problem that was allowed to fester on college campuses, and now it has spilled over into the real world.

First concern is for those attacked, second for the dog, and NONE for the lunatic.

You know they will put that dog down, it’s his owners fault
That’s a very aggressive bred, breed to be serious protection and needs serious handlers
    I feel for the animal

Italian Mastiff (Cane Corso) are definitely loyal and protective but they ain’t any more aggressive than an English Mastiff or American Mastiff. While all originate from the Roman Molosser they ain’t naturally aggressive. Usually they are big cuddle bears. I’ve owned all three and they are big babies, good natured, gentle giants, sticking to their owner like velcro. They will interpose themselves between stranger/danger and their humans or if used as livestock guardians (which they were bred to be) between their herd/flock and threats. Any dog can be trained to be aggressive. It isn’t the breed but the owner that’s the issue.

I know, you have the Gandhi of Cane Corso’s. Some breeds have a predilection for violence because they are bred for it. Cane Corso’s can go off the rails very easily much like pit bulls for example. A strong owner can mitigate it but sometimes they just do what they do and a 4 legged buzz saw is coming at you.

The Cane Corso I had was a rescue from a dog fighting ring and was ironically a 1/4 mix of pitbull. She was an absolute joy to be around. Not a mean bone in her body. I don’t have any special training but I have been around large/giant breed dogs most of my life. My Parents always had a couple/three GSD, usually at least one retired K9.

In fairness I had just retired when we got contacted a likely candidate to rehome her so I was able to spend a good deal of time with her. We already had two Mastiffs and the dog was taken to the vet we used and she suggested us as a potential candidates for a forever home.. That dog absolutely loved my teenage Daughter deciding she was ‘her’ person. Took a while for her to warm up to me. Never challenged me, and zero aggression, not even towards the two Mastiffs we already had. She seemed to be afraid/shy around Men b/c in contrast she quickly became buddies with my Wife and Daughter. Took about 8 weeks for her to really decide she could trust me. From then on she was a third Velcro Mastiff.

IMO it’s the owner not the breed. Yes different breeds have different needs and every owner should get a dog which matches their lifestyle and time, energy, ability, willingness to invest. A Mastiff is pretty chill, just some walks and light play and they usually wanna lay down, nap or cuddle. A Malinois has far more energy and requires more activity. Both are intelligent and will be ‘naughty’ if bored/attention deprived. Any breed will become either viscous or scared if abused.

its not the breed but the owner…so dna doesnt play a part in people or animals behavior?? according to you

just b/c yo can train a person/animal to be aggressive doesnt take away from the pre disposition of dna

Cane Corso were bred to be livestock guardians. As with English Mastiff they derive from the Roman Molosser so sure DNA plays a role. Neither are inherently vicious. Both have a very strong protective instinct. Mastiff of all types will put themselves in between ‘their human’ and any perceived danger using their massive size to deter. They all ‘patrol’ the perimeter of their human’s domain and get fussy when their humans don’t let them. Neither of those are trained but rather instinctive behavior of the breed.

Training a dog to attack or mistreating them teaches fear/no trust of humans. Any dog will become viscous in those circumstances.

The Pitt bull and Cane Corso are the ‘scary black gun’ of the dog world. Don’t let yourself be manipulated into believing the narrative the lefty woke anti pet activists and media want to spin for you.

the scotus ruled that the police job is not to …

Castle Rock v. Gonzales, 545 U.S. 748 (2005), is a United States Supreme Court case in which the Court ruled, 7–2, that a town and its police department could not be sued under 42 U.S.C. § 1983 for refusing to enforce a restraining order, even though the refusal led to the murders of a woman’s three children by her estranged husband.[1][2] This decision affirmed the controversial principle that state and local government officials have no affirmative duty to protect the public from harm it did not create; a similar ruling was made in DeShaney v. Winnebago County which involves Child Protective Services (called the Department of Social Services in the case) failing to protect a child from a violent parent.[3] The decision has since become infamous and condemned by several human rights groups and is frequently cited among the worst Supreme Court decisions in modern history.[4][5][6][7]

also there is the “the duty to rescue” law

The Default Rule is No Duty: In most U.S. states, the foundational principle of common_law is that an ordinary bystander has no legal duty to rescue another person in danger, even if the rescue would be easy and pose no risk.

So are we already at the “The Motive May Never Be Known (TM)” stage?

Brought to you by the rabid, unabashedly Jew-hating and utterly evil communist/Islamofascist/Muslim supremacist Dhimmi-crat Party.

Some years back I told the Prof to buy a gun, things were getting ugly.
We could probably use a billionaire that will fun making gun laws illegal so honest people don’t have to flee because the politicians don’t want you armed.

Fund not fun.

POM OC spray is about 12 bucks and weighs ounces.

With the exception of the really high ones, it’s an attack ender.

If you do not care to carry a firearm for your protection a can of wasp killer works pretty darn well. Shoots foam 20 ft or so and will disable any attacker.

Which begs the question of why stay/go to a State where the laws seem to prioritize the ability of criminal class over the ability of normal Citizens to protect themselves, their Family and property. From that perspective the decision to stay/go to such a State may be the last opportunity to exercise personal responsibility in determining your safety. IMO putting your safety into the hands of a jurisdiction with such a culture seems imprudent.

Marxists want to get started with their revolution sooner ot later.

The current level of antisemitism is disgusting. And the people who tell me they’re antiZionists, not antisemitic, are also disgusting. My response is that the only entity who will reliably stand up for and protect Jewish people around the world is Israel, so there is really no distinction between antiZionism and antisemitism.
