Jill Biden Says She Thought Joe Was ‘Having a Stroke’ During Disastrous Debate Performance

“I was frightened, because I had never ever seen Joe like that before or since. Never. As I watched it, I thought, ‘Oh, my God, he’s having a stroke.’ And it scared me to death.”

https://x.com/CBSSunday/status/2060023789811818571

It was inevitable that, at some point, Jill Biden was going to come out with a book to tell her side of the story, not just regarding what happened at the infamous June 2024 presidential debate but also about her time as first lady.

As it’s billed on the Simon and Schuster website, “View from the East Wing: A Memoir,” which comes out on June 2nd, centers around how Mrs. Biden supposedly was and is “dedicated to her roles as a wife, mother, grandmother, teacher — and First Lady of the United States.”

But people who remember the turmoil of the Biden-Harris administration and the repeated instances of Joe Biden looking lost, out of it, frequently confused, and having to be stage-managed from start to finish by his handlers — including Jill Biden — that characterization rings hollow.

Mrs. Biden sat down for an interview with the CBS Sunday Morning program, and ahead of its airing on Sunday, several clips are being released to drum up interest.

In the first one, released on Wednesday, Jill Biden claimed she had “never” seen Biden look the way he did at that debate before or since.  But she did note that at one point at the debate, she believed the president was “having a stroke,” which she said “scared me to death”:

“I was frightened, because I had never ever seen Joe like that before or since. Never,” Jill Biden told CBS News Sunday Morning’s Rita Braver in an interview airing Sunday on CBS.

“I don’t know what happened,” she said. “As I watched it, I thought, ‘Oh, my God, he’s having a stroke.’ And it scared me to death.”

Watch:

The Atlantic, which obtained a copy of the book for review ahead of its release, opined that “Part of Jill Biden’s goal … it seems, is to dispel bipartisan accusations that she was a hidden hand covering up her aging husband’s cognitive decline and nudging him to cling to power longer than his mind and body could sustain.”

If that’s the case, she failed miserably to dispel such accusations for reasons I’ll get to in a minute. But first, let’s take a look at the next clip from the Sunday interview that was released, which shows Jill Biden adamantly denying she had ever seen signs of cognitive decline from her husband:

“CBS Sunday Morning” correspondent Rita Braver asked the former first lady whether she saw signs that her husband was “falling into cognitive decline.”

“No,” Jill Biden said.

Braver cited the public’s concerns about the president’s mental acuity: “People were saying he wasn’t the same Joe Biden.”

“He was the same, the essence of the same Joe Biden, but yeah, he was slowing down. He was getting older. It’s a very intense job. I think it ages you — quickly,” Jill Biden replied, in an interview airing Sunday, May 31, on CBS.

Watch:

It’s really astonishing, honestly, that Jill Biden thinks this book and the media tour she’s going on to promote is going to make her look better. I mean, think about it. She was in attendance at the debate and was part of one of its more notable moments when she was seen having to hold his hand as he went down a couple of stage steps once everything concluded:

If she thought he was having a stroke or another similar type of major medical issue on national TV, why didn’t she stop the debate? That’s the kind of thing where you don’t sit back and watch as a supposedly concerned wife. You take action.

Further, why did she drag Joe Biden off to campaign stops in the aftermath, which were well after his bedtime, and where she joined in “four more years” chants even after supposedly thinking he’d just had a stroke or been drugged?

Further, she admitted in the book that there was no medical evaluation done after the debate because she didn’t request one, even after thinking Joe Biden had a stroke:

“To this day, I still don’t know what happened. Why wasn’t he making any sense? It was inexplicable to me,” she says elsewhere in the book. Maybe he had rehearsed too much? Maybe he had traveled too much that month? Or was he just ill? The president had seemed exhausted earlier in the day and had told her that he was not feeling too well. Later, after positing that he may have unwittingly taken codeine cough syrup or Ambien to fight off a cold or to help him sleep, Jill Biden seems to rhetorically throw her hands in the air: “I only wish I had the answer.” (You could forgive the reader for wondering, Well, did you ask him?) The first lady writes that she wished she had thought to ask for a blood test after the debate (and also says she suggested the president take a cognitive test to calm doubts, but was overruled by his advisers).

Let’s also not forget that Jill Biden reportedly was, again, the most vocal proponent of Biden not only running for reelection despite his declining health but also staying in the race after the disastrous debate, where she says she thought her octogenarian husband might have had a stroke.

“The first lady has also expressed fear that bowing out would make the Atlanta debate a defining image of her husband’s presidency, an outcome she finds unacceptable, the people said,” Politico reported two weeks after the debate.

Jill Biden’s press tour so far for this book has become almost as disastrous as her husband’s debate performance, as demonstrated by how even the Democrat apologists at CNN, which was heavily involved in pushing the insulting “cheap fakes” narrative ahead of that 2024 debate, don’t seem to be buying it:

“It’s the first time that we’ve heard her express any concern about that debate that ultimately ended Joe Biden’s 2024 campaign. But that stands in stark contrast to what Jill Biden had to say just moments after the debate.”

This book isn’t about trying to make Joe Biden look better. It’s about trying to make Jill Biden look like less of a conspirator to hide the truth from the American public than she already does. Newsflash for “Dr.” Jill: It’s not working.

If we actually believe she thought Joe had a stroke, Jill is just plain evil!

Her allegiance is to BIG BROTHER GOVERNMENT, and not her disabled husband.

She is absolutely Bull shooting –

A – If anyone thought it was a stroke, there would have been immediate medical attention
B – She knew his behavior was his very common behavior associated with mental impairment, and therefore knew it was is ordinary behavior.

Exactly right. I’ve never met the idiot in person, but I watched the vile, corrupt, lying c*nt Joe Biden on the national stage for decades. And while he has always been a disgusting, amoral piece of sh*t person, it was quite clear to me that his mental faculties had rapidly declined in the years leading up the campaign. By the time he was up for re-election it was glaringly obvious to anyone with two brain cells. Jill Biden is nothing but a lying wh*re.

C – It was the first time in 4 years Joe had to speak without reading off a note card. He almost had a stroke.

Sure, Jan.
Unfortunately for you, we all saw this many times. In your lust for power, you did absolutely nothing to stop it.
Despicable. Please go, and never darken our doorsteps again.

Is the left addicted to gaslighting? I just don’t get the constant necessity to lie about everything all the time.

The lying bint. So worried she kept him upright for hours visiting junk food outlets. Yup, worried she wasn’t gonna be First Lady much longer.

The fact is that Biden at his best was a mental lightweight distinguished only by his ability to survive getting caught in blatant plagiarism and transparently phoney self aggrandizement.
This is just a continuation of the Democrats and the MSM to cover up the fact that the US effectively had no President for four years.

IMO Biden was selected as a placeholder/stooge b/c he had a public persona of amiable/elder curated by the lefty corporate media. The fact that was a lightweight who believed he was far more intelligent/capable than the reality made him a good canvas for the d/prog machine to paint their narratives upon. Behind the scenes his selection was about two things:
    1. Recapture the WH/Executive Branch power
    2. Delay the intra party d/prog fight between the few remaining moderates (or at least those who believed they should publicly pretend) and the ascendant far left antifa, tranny, BLM, CRT, open borders, commies.

Biden was an avatar of whichever side held sway at the moment and the projection of him as grandpa Joe while they tried to hide all sorts of shenanigans and horrible policies behind his facade is biting them in the butt as more and evidence reveals how incompetent he was.

Going into his admin, I suspected the plan was to 25th Amendment him out of office and install Harris as (at least) acting POTUS. I presume this plan was derailed when Harris quickly proved to be incompetent (in her capacity as VP, which was quite the trick) and unlikeable. This saddled the Dems with Biden for the duration. The need to coverup of his mental decline hadn’t been anticipated. Indeed, they were going to use his mental decline to remove him from office. But what had once been a plan’s central feature became a bug. It’s no wonder a sh*tstorm followed.

Chief, my only quibble is with the word “incompetent”. Competence or not implies some degree of engagement. I don’t think Biden was engaged at all. He may only have been vaguely aware that he was POTUS at least part of the time.
Yes, occasionally they would get him juiced up and put a teleprompter in front of him. He has done nothing but posture in front of cameras. He will be able to read a script after he no longer can recognize Dr Jill

I think he probably was ‘with it’ maybe 2/3 of the time early on maybe six months to a year in but rapidly declining in basic competence (to walk, speak, not wander off aimlessly). Just enough to fake it and keep him hidden away from prying eyes, only bringing him out at selective events/times as they did in the campaign.

IDK about that. Harris was a horrible candidate in the d/prog primary where she wasn’t backed by the CA d/prog machine and had to seriously compete v be anointed. She came across as unlikable and not very capable/intelligent and let herself get gutted like a fish by Tulsi Gabbard. The only reason she was VP was pressure from Rep Clyburn of SC which was his price to back Biden in SC and then throughout the South on Super Tuesday to push back Bernie again.

Biden himself campaigned as a ‘one term’ to defeat Trump and let the next generation have time to get their crap together. Even today 6 years later who among d/prog looks like they are prepared to face the scrutiny/sharp elbows of a competitive national Presidential campaign?

The whole second term was about Jill. She had power without accountability and loved it. She didn’t give a damn about the country or our future. Flying round the world as Mrs President and being endlessly kowtowed by everyone was a thrill. In return for “keeping the secret” of Joe’s senility ( and no doubt some cash via Hunter et al) she gave control of various agencies to activist groups who wanted them. Hence the Gay movement got control of the military; the Greens got the EPA; the Open Borders groups got immigration; the BLM got Courts and the DOJ. Finally the anti-Trump groups got the DOJ and CIA.

Everyone got to do whatever they wanted and Jill didn’t even have to think about anything but keeping Joe stuffed full of tranquilizers and ice cream.

Yes, there’s a place in Hell for Jill.

Dr. Jill must have been absent the day they taught medicine in medical school.

Joe Biden has been stupid since the day he emerged from his mother’s womb. He was *clearly* suffering from dementia during the 2020 election season. Anyone that has had a loved one afflicted with dementia could see the obvious signs. Put the two together and you get *no one* running the country. Into that vacuum the worst of the worst get sucked in.

Obama and Biden are the perfect representation of the caustic nature of today’s Democrat party.

The claim that she had never seen him like that before or since is a blatant lie. The stroke thing is just hyperbole. The much bigger lie is that she gave a damn what was happening to him.

Why isn’t Jill Biden in prison for elder abuse?

Shame on you for not quoting The Babylon Bee in this article.

and the fact that he wasnttt having a stroke but was acting as normal as he ever had was more proof that he was just indeed a mark , a figurehead for their plausible deniability they needed to CHEAT even more than usual in the 2020 vote counting

They even CHEATED THEIR OWN VOTERS in 2024 by “electing” kamalalal

but nooooo lets alll pretend that 2020 was legit b/c any talk of it is crazyyy

meanwhile the lefts truer colors show as they elect more and more omars to the benches

Jill stood by helplessly as the DNC operatives blasted Joe with focused microwave radiation to stun him.

Joe wasn’t allowed to win, the DNC needed more agitation prior to an event on the horizon.

It’s all so tiresome. She knew he was a drooling vegetable and he didn’t care because she got power and glamour.

We all saw the clip of her after the debate literally talking to him like he was a 5 year old that cleaned his plate about how he ‘answered every question.’ And the worst part was HE STOOD THERE AND GRINNED LIKE A 5 YEAR OLD.

The Biden’s are out of power now, thankfully.

We should be focusing our attention on the CURRENT issues, and the very radical policy positions that the Democrats are pushing.

She’s just trying to shift blame away from her, and like a good commie is happy to attempt to re-write history.

The fact remains that the Democrat Party was forced to run Biden for reelection in 2024 because, had he dropped out, they would have had to have an open primary that RFK Jr. might have won. The only way to block RFK out was to not hold a primary campaign. They did this to themselves.

Ironically, an RFK/Tulsi Gabbard ticket might have defeated Trump, but both were purged from the party for heresy.

I think this is all about Jill and very strategic about protecting Jill Biden. In the not too distant future we will be listening to the audio made of the disposition of Joe Biden by Robert Hur. With that release, it will become clear that Biden’s debate performance was not a one-off and that Robert Hur’s assessment of Joe Biden was generous.

Well, if we can’t accept Frau Doktor Jill’s diagnosis, gained from watching the patient’s actions on a TV screen, who’s medical diagnosis can we trust? Frau Doktor Jill had to choose from two possible diagnoses: stroke or Alzheimer’s. She chose the least damaging answer, politically and personally, to herself.
