The last time I mentioned Egypt, archeologists had uncovered the hidden tomb of an Egyptian royal priest that had been untouched for around 4,400 years. Since then, there have been further fascinating developments related to the land of the Nile. To start with, Cairo officials tried to prevent the airing of a CBS interview in which Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi spoke of his country’s close co-operation with Israel in fighting ISIS militants.

The Supreme Court announced Friday that it would, once again, consider whether partisan gerrymandering can be so extreme that it violates the Constitution. The move comes after a term in which the justices had looked poised to impose some limits on partisan influence in redistricting, but ultimately seemed unable to agree on a workable standard for evaluating when state lawmakers cross a constitutional line.

Austrian police have changed a young woman with inflicting bodily harm for defending herself against a sexual molester, local newspapers report. The incident took place during the New Year's Eve celebrations in Vienna's landmark City Hall square, where a 21-year-old Swiss woman pushed back an Afghan migrant who tried to assault her.

I wrote recently that Elizabeth Warren's presidential campaign already has been defined by her Native American problem much as emails defined Hillary. Trump has switched, at least temporarily, from calling her "Pocahontas" to mock her false claim to be Native American to mocking the DNA test results that showed Warren may only be 1/1024th Native American (by DNA, which is not how real Native Americans determine whether someone is a tribal member).

The last time reported on celebrity astrophysicist and author Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson, he was opining about a Truth Force . . . "one that defends against all enemies of accurate information, both foreign & domestic." Now, the scientist is being visited by a special type of "truth force," as investigators look into several allegations that he sexually abused colleagues and associates. Additionally, work on his show has been halted in the wake of this news.
