When will companies learn to listen to their consumers? Maybe PepsiCo will now that its profit dropped 10% in the third quarter after it devoted more time to healthier drinks instead of its staples like Pepsi and Mountain Dew. From The Wall Street Journal:
PepsiCo this year shifted resources away from its namesake cola and Mountain Dew toward new products such as its premium bottled-water brand, LIFEWTR, and a sparkling lemonade called Lemon Lemon, finance chief Hugh Johnston said in an interview Wednesday.

NBC News thought it had a big scoop when it reported that Vice President Mike Pence had to step in and convince Secretary of State Rex Tillerson not to resign in July after he allegedly called President Donald Trump a 'moron'. Tillerson held a press conference this morning to counter these reports and assure everyone that he has never considered leaving his post. The State Department has denied that Tillerson called Trump a moron. Despite this, the media remains focused on the 'moron' comment, which has now evolved from moron to f*cking moron.

The U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill that bans abortions after 20 weeks, mostly along party lines. Three Democrats voted yes while two Republicans voted no. Now the bill heads to the senate where it may die since it needs 60 votes to pass. The GOP only holds a two seat majority.

Hugh Hefner, founder of Playboy died last week. The obits that followed were almost as disgusting as Hefner.

Because Virginia's constitution does not permit current Governor Terry McAuliffe (D) to run for another term, there is no incumbent for voters to assess when they vote for a new governor on November 7th. A Libertarian convention and regular primaries earlier this summer resulted in a three-way race amongst Republican Ed Gillespie, Democrat Ralph Northam, and (nonstarter) Libertarian Cliff Hyra. According to Real Clear Politics averages, Northam was leading Gillespie last month by 4.4 points.

The Washington Examiner has reported that Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) has begun preparing to run for Sen. Bob Corker's (R-TN) seat next year. Corker announced he would not run for reelection in 2018, making Blackburn the most liekly successor with conservative groups rallying behind her.

Anti-Israel activists regularly, and with never-ending repetition, claim that Israel is an "Apartheid state" because if favors Jews over non-Jews. This accusation is a key part of the strategy to delegitimize Israel, and was developed in 2001 as part of the Durban conference boycott call. That boycott call, based on the accusation of Apartheid, was the foundation of the current Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, as I discussed in my lecture, The REAL history of the BDS movement.

President Donald Trump's administration has expelled 15 diplomats from the Cuban Embassy in Washington, D.C., due to the mysterious attacks on U.S. diplomats that have caused major health problems. From Secretary of State Rex Tillerson:
On October 3, the Department of State informed the Government of Cuba that it was ordering the departure of 15 of its officials from its embassy in Washington, D.C. The decision was made due to Cuba’s failure to take appropriate steps to protect our diplomats in accordance with its obligations under the Vienna Convention. This order will ensure equity in our respective diplomatic operations.
