Donald Trump is expected to deliver his much anticipated immigration speech at 9:00 EST tonight from Phoenix, Arizona. To watch his speech live, see the feed at the bottom of the post. Trump spent the majority of the day in Mexico, meeting with President Enrique Peña Nieto. According to the New York Times, Mexicans accused President Peña Nieto of committing a 'historic error' by inviting Trump on their home turf.
Instead, the predominant feeling here in the Mexican capital is one of betrayal. “It’s a historic error,” said Enrique Krauze, a well-known historian. “You confront tyrants, you don’t appease them.”

Rasmea Odeh is the Palestinian terrorist group member convicted of the 1969 supermarket bombing in Jerusalem that killed two Hebrew University students, Edward Joffe and Leon Kanner. [caption id="attachment_130186" align="alignnone" width="600"][Graves of Edward Joffe and Leon Kanner, Jerusalem] [Graves of Edward Joffe and Leon Kanner Jerusalem][Photo by William Jacobson][/caption]Rasmea was released in a prisoner exchange in 1979 for an Israeli soldier captured in Lebanon. Rasmea eventually made her way to the U.S., where she lied on both her visa and naturalization applications, by falsely stating that she never was convicted of a crime or served time in prison. She told other lies as well, such as not disclosing the time she spent in Lebanon after release from Israeli prison, or that she was a military member of the terrorist Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. Rasmea became a U.S. citizen in 2004 on the basis of those lies.

Tuesday, the EU told Ireland it must force Apple to pay back $14.5 billion in unpaid taxes, drawing anger from both sides since the ruling could harm future investments. In light of that, other situations involving the EU and US companies have come to the forefront again. The Dutch press printed a letter from a group representing Silicon Valley companies, asking The Netherlands to resist a change in their tax system to accommodate the EU's horrific tax system and a new UK tax that aims "in part at making technology groups that book sales offshore pay more in tax." A change could lead to these U.S. companies abandoning The Netherlands for other places.

Who knew attending an Ivy League school could pose such a threat to one's personal safety? Yale University's newest report on campus sexual misconduct suggests life at Yale is almost as dangerous as the city of Detroit. The College Fix reports:
Yale’s latest sexual-assault report suggests school is more dangerous than Detroit Yale University continues to impose sanctions on students and faculty even when they are not found responsible for sexual misconduct, according to its latest half-year report on sexual misconduct.

Yesterday Angela Corey, the prosecutor who dragged George Zimmerman into a hapless politically-motivated trial for second degree murder for the lawful killing of Trayvon Martin, has soundly lost the GOP primary race for her re-election as 4th Judicial State Attorney in the Jacksonville area of Florida, reports the Florida-Times Union newspaper.  Corey was defeated by a relatively late entrant into the primary, former corporate lawyer and prosecutor Melissa Nelson.

While I had hoped Dr. Kelli Ward would be the Republican candidate for Arizona's U.S. Senate seat, it looks like Senator John McCain is immune from "anti-incumbent fever" and handily won Tuesday's primary battle.
U.S. Sen. John McCain beat back a primary challenge Tuesday from a Republican tea party activist to win the right to seek a sixth Senate term in November, clearing an important hurdle in a race that was inundated with questions about GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump. The 2008 GOP presidential nominee easily defeated former state Sen. Kelli Ward and two other Republicans on the ballot. He faces a tough Democratic challenge in the November general election from U.S. Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick. She advanced Tuesday after facing only a write-in opponent in the primary.

So remember how the State Department miraculously found a disc with 15,000 Hillary Clinton emails after the FBI finished their investigation? Yeah, now officials said at least 30 of those deleted emails are possibly about Benghazi. Wait. I thought Hillary only deleted personal emails about yoga classes? The department must hand over those emails and documents to Judicial Watch by September 13 for its investigation into Hillary's private email server.

What was your reaction upon waking to the news of Trump's planned trip to visit the President of Mexico? This Insurrectionist saw it as a bold move that might help him appeal to various voting groups. Morning Joe has been on an anti-Trump riff of late, but even so one anticipated that at least someone on the panel would applaud Trump's gambit. Wrong. Across the board, the Morning Joe gang ripped and ridiculed Trump's trip. Joe Scarborough set the tone, mockingly pointing out that Trump and the Mexican president will be "very excited" since their combined approval ratings will reach 50%. Mika Brzezinski, after emotionally declaring "I'm absolutely done with being emotional about this" said "it's almost silly to spend too much time analyzing his moves because they're nonsensical." Mike Barnicle couldn't see "what difference this trip makes." Willie Geist said Trump might be walking into a "trap" in which the Mexican president will seize the occasion to tear Trump down in front of the Mexican people. Donny Deutsch outdid the others, psychoanalyzing Trump: "megalomania, sociopath, detached from reality." Thank you, Dr. Donny.

The FBI came under fire when Director James Comey decided not to recommend charges against Hillary Clinton over her private email server and when the department revealed no one actually taped its interview with her. The media responded with numerous Freedom of Information Acts requests for more details, which has led the department to release the notes agents took during the investigation and from Hillary's interview.

The FBI has issued an alert across the nation that criminals and foreign governments might try to hack into election systems in November. The department became concerned "after hackers successfully infiltrated one state board of election and targeted another" in Illinois and Arizona.

The EU alleges that Ireland gave Apple, an American company, sweet deals in order to bring jobs to the island. On Tuesday morning, the EU antitrust enforcer ordered Apple to pay 13 billion euros ($14.6 billion) in unpaid taxes in the biggest tax ruling in EU history.

A Clemson University student who is part of Young Americans for Freedom was praying on campus with a man who's not a student this weekend when an administrator approached them and told them to stop. Red Alert Politics reported:
Clemson stops man from praying on campus: ‘Not a free speech area’ [VIDEO] A man was stopped by a Clemson University administrator for praying on campus, telling him and a Young Americans for Freedom (YAF) activist that “this is not a designated free speech area,” and asking them to leave the area. YAF’s blog The New Guard released the video today. The administrator, Shawn Jones who is the assistant director for client services, also called their praying “solicitation,” and demanded that they would need to fill out paperwork to continue. Clemson receives state and federal funding, and many see these restrictions as disregarding the First Amendment to the Constitution by limiting free speech to certain zones.

Iran has deployed the Russian-made S-300 missile system to fortify its underground nuclear facility at Fordo. Tehran’s decision to deploy the missile system at the site should set alarm bells ringing for the Obama administration. Prior to the Nuclear Deal, the installation at Fordo was used by Iran to enrich Uranium, vital component for building a nuclear bomb. The enrichment process was to be halted at the location under the Obama-sponsored agreement. According the deal, Iran was required to repurpose the centrifuges at Fordo and turn one of its major nuclear installation into a ‘medical research facility’, dedicated to ‘medical imaging’. Deploying missile system that fires rockets twice as big as the average patriot missiles, makes Iran's Fordo clearly the best protected 'medical facility' in the world. For those waiting to hear the thunderous sound of that ‘snap back’ promised by President Obama in the run-up the Iran Deal -- please don't hold your breath.

As you may have noted from some of my recent posts, we recently bought a small waterfront house in my formerly-now-once-again home State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations. For the past six weeks I've been back and forth several times, and expect to split the year between Ithaca and Rhode Island again like I did for five years prior to selling our prior RI home in June 2013. During these breaks from Ithaca I've come to understand how living full time in Ithaca is a political pressure cooker. In Ithaca, everything is political. You can't escape it. You will not be left alone. You will be made to care. Even about your coffee, as I joked when we left RI for Ithaca full time:

Last week Hillary Clinton joined Jimmy Kimmel Live. Increasing attention to what onlookers suggest could be serious health issues led Kimmel to challenge Hillary with a presidential competency test -- opening a jar of pickles. Hillary succeeded in opening the jar of pickles all on her very own, only for pickle truthers to question the veracity of the Kimmel/pickle challenge. The largest detractor was conspiracy monger, Alex Jones. So, Kimmel took seven minutes out of his show to expose the truth behind Pickle Gate.
