The UN General Assembly voted by a margin of 128-9-35 to condemn Donald Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital and eventually to relocate the US Embassy to Jerusalem. The vote is non-binding, but is being cheered in many quarters. American liberals are loving it, because it is viewed as a loss for Trump. And any loss for Trump, even if it's an anti-US loss, is okay with the media Resistance.

The UN General Assembly is meeting this morning on a resolution that, without mentioning the U.S. by name, condemns Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital and plan to relocate the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem at some future point. The resolution also demands a return to the so-called 1967 lines (which actually are the 1949 Armistice lines), which would put the main Jewish holy sites and the Jewish Quarter in the hands of Palestinians. General Assembly Resolutions are not binding under UN Rules and do not create international law. U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley, backed up by Donald Trump, has promised that the U.S. and Trump take this vote personally, and will be "taking names," as detailed in our prior post, Nikki Haley: “US will be taking names” during General Assembly vote on Jerusalem Embassy move.

The Palestinians, true to form, have decided to try to internationalize their dispute with Donald Trump over Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital. A resolution in the Security Council contained diplomatic wording that did not mention the U.S. by name, but was the equivalent of demanding the U.S. reverse its decision. The U.S. vetoed the resolution, in a 14-1 vote, with US Ambassador Nikki Haley issuing this warning:

Nikki Haley certainly has raised her public profile as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, and with good reason. Haley has become a very effective public face of Trump's U.S. diplomacy, in many ways overshadowing Secretary of State Rex Tillerson at least in terms of public exposure. What this means in terms of Haley's political future is uncertain. But with Governor and UN Ambassador on her resume, and being in front of the cameras as much as she is, it has to make her a contender for either higher national office (Secretary of State?) or VP nominee at some point in the future. I don't think she yet has what it would take politically to mount a presidential campaign, but who knows in 2024. From the beginning of her service, Haley has attacked the UN's profound bias against Israel.

In a number of recent posts, we’ve been covering the Palestinian effort at UNESCO to erase the Jewish connection to Jerusalem, Hebron and other historical sites in Judea and Samaria (the West Bank). As we’ve discussed, since 2011 when the UN body recognized Palestine as a state, Palestinian officials have undertaken what amounts to a cultural jihad—hijacking the UNESCO agenda by repeatedly forcing its members to consider Jewish heritage sites as purely Islamic.

ISIS has now been ejected from its stronghold in the Syrian city of Raqqa. Evidence has been revealed that show President Barack Obama’s administration covered for failed Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and her family on a few occasions, including the connection to a Russian uranium deal.

UNESCO has become a poster child for how UN agencies have had their missions perverted by the anti-Israel agenda. Other than the absurd UN Human Rights Council, which is run by some of the worst human rights offenders in the world, UNESCO stands out for its anti-Jewish agenda, which seeks to deny the history of the Jewish presence in what now is Israel and Judea/Samaria (the "West Bank") putting in its place a false Islamic supremacist version of history. Palestinian Mosab Hassan Yousef, son of a Hamas leader, lashed out at the Palestinian Authority earlier this week during a session of the UN Human Rights Council. The UN HRC is pathologically anti-Israel. Some of the worst human rights violators in the world run the show, and turn almost everything into an anti-Israel hatefest. Yousef appeared on behalf of UN Watch, a non-governmental watchdog group that monitors anti-Israel bias at the UN. UN Watch writes:

President Donald Trump and U.S. Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley spoke today at a UN special forum called "Reforming the United Nations, Security, and Development" to kick off a week of meetings. In his remarks, Trump urged the UN to reform, make results its top focus, and reduce its bureaucracy.

Myanmar government officials have confirmed that the army targeted Rohingya villages in Rakhine state, leaving 40% emptied as of now. From The Guardian:
Of 471 villages targeted in “clearance operations” by the Burmese army since late August, 176 were now empty and at least 34 others partially abandoned, Zaw Htay said.

US United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley told the Security Council that North Korea dictator Kim Jong-un "is begging for war" after the latest nuclear test in the hermit kingdom. "Despite our efforts, the North Korea nuclear program is more advanced and more dangerous than ever," she explained. "War is never something the United States wants. We don't want it now. But our country's patience is not unlimited."
