On Fox and Friends this morning, Chicago Fraternal Order of Police President Kevin Graham tore into Chicago Superintendent Eddie Johnson over his decision to skip a speech scheduled next week from President Donald Trump:
Graham told [Steve] Doocy: "He has said that he has problems with President Trump. And, my feeling is, there are plenty of people that I have problems with but, the reality is when police officers are out on the street, we do not engage in political activity.

President Donald Trump addressed the nation Monday morning after two mass shootings took place in America. One in El Paso, TX, killed 20 people while the other in Dayton, OH, killed nine people. With Vice President Mike Pence by his side, Trump lashed out at hate in America while calling for gun reforms.

You can get my quick take on Trump's State of the Union address here. What did viewers generally think? According to "instant polls" SOTU was a hit.

President Donald Trump has informed Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) in a letter that he will honor her previous invitation to deliver the State of the Union in Congress on January 29. He told Pelosi, "It would be so very sad for our Country if the State of the Union were not delivered on time, on schedule, and very importantly, on location!" Pelosi shot back that she won't allow Trump to deliver the address in the House.

At 4 p.m. Eastern, Trump will deliver what the White House is calling a major speech on the border crisis and the partial government shutdown. Various news organizations are reporting that in the speech Trump will offer an extension of DACA in exchange for border wall funding.

President Donald Trump tweeted today that he will give a national address on the situation on our southern border. He will travel to the area on Thursday. After hours of  "will they, won't they" coverage,  the broadcast networks and cable news networks decided they will broadcast Trump on Tuesday night. Only CBS confirmed the broadcast by Monday evening. However, their decision led to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) to demand equal airtime.

President Donald Trump locked horns with CNN's Jim Acosta. As usual, Acosta used the press conference to create a spectacle, refusing to cede his turn to the next reporter when Trump had moved on and hanging on to the mic when a staffer tried to take it to pass to the next reporter. When Acosta kept on, Trump told him to stop. From Fox News:
“That's enough. Put down the mic,” he ordered Acosta, as a White House aide tried to take the microphone from him, only for Acosta to initially refuse to turn it over and push her arm down. “I tell you what, CNN should be ashamed of itself having you working for them. You are a rude, terrible person, you shouldn’t be working for CNN.”

President Donald Trump tweeted that he will hold a press conference at 11:30AM ET to discuss the Republicans "success" in Tuesday's midterm elections. Like previous administrations, the party of the president lost the House, but the Republicans made decent gains within the Senate.
