Trump’s Next State of the Union Address Could Take Place Outside of Washington

“Nancy, I am still thinking about the State of the Union speech, there are so many options”

In a nakedly political move, Nancy Pelosi has declared that Trump’s state of the union address next week shouldn’t take place in the House of Representatives. She cited safety concerns due to the government shutdown, but that’s utter nonsense.

If the Republican controlled House had tried to block Obama from giving a SOTU address in the chamber, the left would have cried racism and Pelosi likely would have agreed.

Despite Pelosi’s petty power play, Trump is going to give this address, and the location could be a bit creative.

Alex Pappas reports at FOX News:

White House planning to proceed with State of the Union, but details up in the air after Pelosi threat

The White House is still planning to move ahead with next week’s scheduled State of the Union address, but the details remain up in the air after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi strongly urged the president to delay the speech or submit it in writing amid the government shutdown fight.

According to multiple sources, it remains unclear whether the address scheduled for Jan. 29 will in fact go forward, or what venue it would be in. The White House is even planning for the possibility of a speech outside of Washington.

“We are still in a holding pattern,” one senior source said.

But Fox News has learned that the White House sent a letter to the House Sergeant at Arms asking to schedule a walk-through for next week’s planned address. This comes after a previously scheduled walk-through last week was canceled at Pelosi’s request.

At the moment, President Trump intends to be at the Capitol next Tuesday to deliver his speech as scheduled, sources said. White House officials told Fox News they essentially are preparing for two tracks for next week’s speech. The preferred track is an address, as per custom, at the Capitol. The second track is a backup plan for a speech outside of Washington, D.C.

Rush Limbaugh recently suggested that this is a golden opportunity for Trump to deliver a SOTU address outside of Washington and directly to the American people. See the short clip in the tweet below:

According to ABC News, Trump is currently preparing more than one speech, depending on where he ends up delivering it:

Trump preparing two State of the Union speeches for different audiences: Sources

President Donald Trump is preparing for two different State of the Union speeches – one a more traditional address delivered to Congress in the House chamber or some other location in D.C., the other prepared for a political rally at a location outside of Washington, D.C. that has yet to be determined, according to multiple sources familiar with the planning.

Sources told ABC News that the president was previously planning two separate versions of the State of the Union – one version if the government was still shut down and another if the government was open…

The president tweeted Sunday that “there are so many options” he’s considering to give the address.

“Nancy, I am still thinking about the State of the Union speech, there are so many options – including doing it as per your written offer (made during the Shutdown, security is no problem), and my written acceptance. White a contract is a contract, I’ll get back to you soon!”

White House deputy press secretary Hogan Gidley said on Fox News Tuesday that the White House had “no announcement at this time” on the president’s plans but added that “Nancy Pelosi does not dictate to the president when he will or will not have a conversation with the American people.”

A lot of people on Twitter have suggested Trump deliver the address at the border, surrounded by border patrol agents and Angel Families. It’s not a bad idea.

I disagree. Hold the speech in the House. It is a government building, she can not prevent him from coming there and if she tries, it should be on national TV. This is an “in your face” opportunity. I would open the speech with “…there is a partial government shutdown and the reason for it is sitting next to VP Pence…” He should lambast her in his opening and then explain to America why we need the wall and that everyone who votes against it should be voted out of office.

She cant stop him from entering the house but under parliamentarian rules she can stop him from speaking and stop it from being televised………….

This new round of theatrics is deeply troubling. The Capitol, as well as the White House belong to the people. I hope this backfires on SanFranNan. Yes, I am biased.

Never a dull moment in DC.

I would just make one change, if it were feasible, hold it at Atlanta, in the stadium where they are going to have the Super Bowl.

But, yes, I love the idea. And I would make it a tenant for the rest of his presidency to hold the SOTU address in the Super Bowl stadium for the rest of his tenure.

If the SOTU iusn’t given in the House but in some other venue the Lefties will lose the opportunity to be seen on camera walking out, sitting on their hands, glowering and scowing, booing or otherwise acting as spoiled children.

That is what these new ‘Democrats’ would do whether Pelosi likes it or not. In such a setting, they will be outclassed by Donald Trump-whom they consider to be crude and classless. What irony!

It won’t make too much difference unless “The Great Negotiator” gets some better speechwriters and advisers. Example One: Start learning the real facts and use them to your advantage; the President keeps saying there are 11 million illegals in the Country, while in fact there are 22 to 30 million. That outrageous number is something the People should know. Example Two: Put the ball in Pelosi’s court; the President did not shut down the government; to the contrary it is the House that initiates such legislation, and it has failed to present legislation that is consistent with their oaths and the President’s oath to protect the sovereign borders of the U.S., and to protect the safety of its citizens. How can the White House not know such simple things? All we see is media-hog Giuliani putting his foot in his mouth when he should be keeping it shut. Isn’t there just one influential and skilled negotiator around the President? Seems not.

If the President decides to hold the SOTU in…say…Texas, how will Congress be able to attend since Trump cut off their flying privileges? Maybe it would be better if they just watched in on YouTube like the rest of us. This is the 21st Century. Let them telecommute…

Congress may fly to Texas, or hitch-hike if they are seeking sympathy, on their own dime. On the other hand, our Constitution does not mandate the SOTU be given verbally to anyone. POTUS can send a document to Congress and to the People. I would like an address from the Oval Office, plus the document. The address should last at least two hours, to properly cover the subject.

P.S. During his Oval Office speech, he can intersperse video clips to illustrate his points. That should reach the walnut-brains who only learn visually.

Whatever happens, the Dems are going to look really, really bad. They can save a little face by compromising with Trump before the speech and letting him speak in their chamber. If there is no agreement to get workers back, he’ll load the stands with Angel parents and family members. If offsite, that would be in his element. Thousands of standing cheering MAGA hat wearing people will dwarf any Dems that show up sitting on their hands the whole time. In the House they at least will own half the building. Anywhere else they will only be guests filling up a few rows in front. The press will, of course, organize protests outside that will conveniently turn violent led by Antifa thugs. This will give Trump even more footage for his 2020 run.
.
Bottom line – Nancy needs to accept defeat before it gets ugly.

Rent the bingo hall in a large mosque, and set up the cameras et al to do the SOTU from there. Then when Pelosi and Ginsberg show up, the guys at the door will tell them they can’t get in without burquahs. I bet we’ll all be surprised at just how enthusiastically the Liberal Left can promote a bit of “Islamophobia” after that.

Of course Article II, Section 3, says that the President “shall give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union,” and if this is interpreted to mean all of Congress, then there’s no way to keep anybody out. So they’d have to be sure to have a stash of burquahs in a range of sizes.

Trump should troll the LEFT by saying that he will be giving the State of the Union speech after mass at the Washington National Cathedral.

Do it from the border. FILL the place with those negatively impacted by the crime flowing across the border. Also fill it with immigrants who followed the rules to get here.

On SOTU topic:
I think the SOTU should be done from the Senate floor, inviting – with priority seating and honor given to them – Angel families and LEGAL immigrants who support Trump. House members are invited, but get first-come/standing room only seating, or outside/overflow seating. Alternatively, hold the SOTU at the border, in TX, or in an arena nearby – keep it classy and focused on the amazing successes this nation has seen over this past year, as well as the need for border security and a wall to protect the nation’s citizens and LEGAL immigrants.

Simultaneously, or just after, have a written “SOTU” (transcript, or prepared statement) delivered to each member of Congress, in both email and physical written form. Then Trump fulfills the Constitutional requirement of “informing Congress from time to time” AND taking this opportunity to deliver the SOTU to the people!

There is NO WAY San Fran Nan is going to win this….. So. Much. Winning. For. Trump. and So. Much. FAIL. For. Pelosi & Schumer.
