I have been covering the typhus and typhoid outbreaks that have hit Southern California as a result of the rat-infestation around homeless encampments. Now an outbreak of a notorious disease, leprosy, is being reported. A recent study published as a Reuters Health report indicates the bacterial infection is emerging in the Los Angeles area (hat-tip ZeroHedge's Tyler Durden):
Leprosy, also known as Hansen's disease, is rarely seen in the United States, but cases continue to emerge in Los Angeles County, a new report says.

There have been some intriguing developments related to elections and California that may bode for a slightly less blue future for the Golden State. I recently noted that the state identified over 84,000 duplicate voter registrations during a detailed audit of rolls in the wake of Motor-Voter implementation. Now, a Republican won a seat in a recent Los Angeles City Council election, beating an enthusiastic advocate of the Green New Deal.

Last week, Los Angeles County officially sent notices to 1.5 million inactive voters on its voter rolls, which is the first step in removing the names of voters who have moved, died, or are otherwise ineligible to vote in federal, state, and local elections.
Under the terms of the settlement, voters who do not respond in the next two federal elections must be removed from county registration lists.

We have followed the public health crisis is Los Angeles closely, as the homeless population explosion has led to conditions ripe for an outbreak of the disease typhus. The area's NBC4 Investigative Team has also covered the story, and assert that the city wastes tens of millions of dollars per year in clean-up efforts because LA's homeless encampments quickly repopulate once cleaning ends.

A federal grand jury in Los Angeles indicted celebrity lawyer Michael Avenatti with 36 counts that include "fraud, perjury, failure to pay taxes, embezzlement and other financial crimes." The DOJ wrote in its press release that Avenatti faces 10 counts of wire fraud, 19 tax-related charges, two counts of bank fraud, and four bankruptcy fraud charges, and embezzlement charges.

Lawyer Michael Avenatti decided to give up financial control of his law firm after his former partner accused him of hiding millions of dollar in order "to avoid having to pay a $10 million judgement." From Fox News:
Jason Frank, a former partner at Eagan Avenatti, accused Avenatti in a court filing of spending extravagantly: $13,000 in rent for his Los Angeles apartment; a $3,640 payment on his Ferrari; $150,000 for his coffee company; $53,600 on his ex-wife; and $232,875 for his auto racing team, The Los Angeles Times reported.

In November, Airbnb announced that it would delist Jewish homes, and only Jewish homes, in Judea and Samaria (the "West Bank"). As I explained at the time, the delisting nominally referred to homes in Settlements, but in the West Bank that is the only place Jews can purchase or rent homes because of Palestinian laws and threats against any Palestinian who rents or sells land to Jews:
