L.A. Mayor Garcetti Admits ‘There is a Connection’ Between Coronoavirus Outbreak and Black Lives Matter Protests

L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti finally admitted that there is a connection between the uptick of the coronavirus in California and the Black Lives Matter protests:

“I talked again with Dr. Ferrer about that this morning. She does think some of the spread did come from our protests,” he said. “It’s not the act of protesting – that’s a great and American thing to do no matter what your opinion is… but protesting without maintaining physical distancing, without wearing your mask, without having sanitizer – we just have to be smart. Whether you’re at a protest or at your home, whether in your workplace or whether you’re out shopping, these rules don’t change.”

He added, “We do believe there is a connection, we don’t believe that everybody has been doing this safely and wherever you can, please stay at home.”

Wait a second. You mean to tell me that the virus does not care if you’re eating out, shopping, or at a protest?

The way everyone spoke about the uptick in cases I started to believe that the virus had the ability to pick and choose who it infected.

Not really.

Honestly, I got sick of both sides on this subject. The left said it had everything to do with reopening and not the protests. The right said the opposite.

I’m sitting here like, “Why can’t it be both?!”

Both Ferrer and Garcetti tried to pretend that the mayor and others never downplayed the link:

After being asked earlier in the video if government officials were downplaying the protests’ effect on coronavirus stats, she said, “We’ve been really honest and said from the beginning that for any people that are in crowded situations for long periods of time – which long for us means more than 15 minutes – where you’re in close contact with people, less than six feet apart and people aren’t wearing a cloth face covering you have a heightened risk of either transmitting the virus if you are an asymptomatic spreader, or getting the virus from someone else who is spreading because they also are an asymptomatic spreader.”

Excuse me, ma’am. Garcetti said something different on Tuesday:

“We follow the data closely. There’s no evidence yet that the protests led to much spread though it’s something that Doctor Ferrer has hypothesized, but we haven’t seen any conclusive evidence there.

People still can obviously and should exercise their First Amendment rights. This is a critical moment not to let up with that,” he [Garcetti] said.

This is one MONUMENTAL ‘Gibbs-slap’! Ya think??

“…There’s no evidence yet…” – guess there is now, eh?

Thank you, Mary, for your ongoing dedicated provision of sanity and rationality to this fiasco. I, too, have become sick of both sides and the entire hysteria. All the talking heads scream ‘science’ and ‘data’ and ‘normals’. Ok, I’ll bite- let’s use the ‘data’ acquired by ‘science’ through the past generations to protect the vulnerable while the balance of the populus gets back to ‘normal’ to get this country moving and develop the requisite heard immunity that occurs naturally.

There is a way to do this, without all the Sturm und Drang. Give people the real information to protect themselves.

If I go to to a big event, I take a precautionary dose of zinc. I have lozenges with zinc plus elderberry with vitamin C from Nature’s way. Zinc dose is 5 mg per lozenge

I use a lozenge if I get a tickle in my throat.

I am fragile, if the tickle persists, or if I start coughing, I add Quecetin, C and D. I have on hand zinc (in a blend of other minerals) 95 mg, Quercetin 500 mg, C (in a blend) 1,000 mg, and D, 10.000 IU. All are available over-the-counter.

If it doesn’t go away after two days, I get tested. If I test positive, I insist on outpatient treatment to prevent hospitalization. The treatment we have is hydroxychloroquine, zinc, and an antibiotic. I do not wait to develop shortness of breath. A person who has shortness of breath is in immediate need.

There is a lot of information in the NIH database, that grew out of HIV research on how to protect immune-compromised people from viral infections. The Wuhan coronavirus is a virus, and it is much more easily managed in the early replication phase.

I’m sure zinc and elderberry keep the Wuhan coronavirus at bay…

I test blood oxygenation daily, checking both normal respiration level, and intentionally increasing breathing rate to see the maximum level I can achieve. If those numbers decrease, then it is time to be tested. These meters are a better indication, earlier indication of problems than temperature.

They are not that expensive, between $20 and $80.

Black problems with this virus are a direct result of lack of common sense, and in part due to genetic issues. Those issues are well known and there is no excuse for people to not be aware of them and conduct themselves accordingly.

Yet we have blacks claiming systemic racism, when the real problem is systemic stupidity.

I am at higher risk than blacks, so I take appropriate measures to avoid exposure, and to reinforce my immune system. It is literally a matter of life and death.

Specifically, genetic predisposition for obesity, high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes, all more prevalent in African American communities, are risk factors for coronavirus outcomes.

If we only tested those with symptoms severe enough to require medical treatment, as we were doing only a couple of months ago, the number of cases would plummet.

It’d pure fanstasy to believe than rational responses to a situation are possible when so many are working actively to hide or pervert the data. It’s long past time to admit it—nobody who relies on the press, the CDC, or a professional politician for his information can have the slightest idea what’s going on. They don’t see it as their job to tell you.

As for me, I believe nothing until I see the evidence myself. That procedure is called “science”. I might accept anecdotal or second-hand info if it’s from a genuine old-school physican. But there aren’t many of those left. The younger physicians are as useless as everybody else.

Although I wouldn’t mistake it for fact, I’d be mildly interested to know how Mayor Garcetti thinks the infection rate (whatever it really is) correlates with looting, arson, and vandalism. These are the diseased elephants in the room; calling them “protests” won’t make them go away.

This is the medical communities answer to the climate change hoax! In both diciplines, years of collected data have been rendered worthless by manipulation of the numbers to fit a preconceived conclusion!

Wow, that’s a pretty wild and bigoted accusation for the mayor to make. OF COURSE the virus will recognize and spare those who are righteously protesting, rioting and looting, and will rain down like hellfire on the wicked non-protesters/rioters/looters. So any spike in cases of the virus has to be caused by those bigoted heretics. Because science.

I’ve been conditioned to respond to this heinous accusation by pointing to the mayor and indicating that they are a retrograde troglodyte.

I have it on good authority, from 1000 public health officials, that the rules specifically and explicitly are different for race-based protesting than any other form of mass gathering.

In fact, in my state, gatherings of 10 are legal, except for anti-police protests, in which case gatherings of up to 100 are legal.

Shame on you, Mayor Garcetti. You are now in great company with Mayor Frey of Minneapolis.

I wonder if Garcetti‘s semi-admission is attempt by the Communist Party satraps to signal that future demonstrations by the BLM/Antifa brownshirts will no longer be allowed. I don’t think the images of armed terrorists burning, murdering and looting on national TV have had the desired political effect, so the time has come to stifle it.

“I don’t think the images of armed terrorists burning, murdering and looting on national TV have had the desired political effect”

It has the same effect on me that it had in 1967, these people deserve to be put down, the rest of society deserves to be free of them. Take the damn gloves off.

But, has there been a significant uptick in actual symptomatic COVID cases? I ask, because even Dr. Birx admitted, on nationwide television, that the standards for classifying any illness as being the result of COVID is extremely liberal. In fact, it does not even require symptoms, the list of which the CDC keeps expanding monthly, if not weekly. So, again, has there been a significant increase in ACTUAL COVID infections? Or is this just more political smoke and mirrors.

We know that the media, the CDC, public health officials and even hospitals, MEs and Coroners have been lying to us non-stop as to the number of actual COVID infections and deaths. And yet, some people steadfastly refuse to even consider the possibility that reported data and statements is contrived? Why?

    randian in reply to Mac45. | July 3, 2020 at 6:13 pm

There has been no matching uptick in deaths. That’s how we know this is an artificial panic.

Welp….sorry to say, but EX-Mayor Garcetti is being [Cancelled] for speaking such heresy…..

This guy is arguably the worst mayor in the history of Los Angeles. He makes previous mayor Villaraigosa (the 2nd words mayor in LA history (James Haan is third) look like a genius.

” ‘People still can obviously and should exercise their First Amendment rights. This is a critical moment not to let up with that,’ he [Garcetti] said.”

Except if it’s that whole “free exercise of religion” thing in the 1A. Then fuggedaboudit.

Whiskey kills the virus, at least in my case.
