We all know how the DNC screwed over Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) in 2016 in favor of failed Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. Now it looks like Sanders may run in 2020 after he added to his staff "the digital alumni who were key to his surprise performance in 2016" along with "the media production company that helped launch Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to prominence."

As more Democrats declare their intention to run for president in 2020, they will be under increased pressure to distinguish themselves from the rest of the crowd. One of the ways this is already unfolding is a competition to be the person who wants to raise taxes the highest on high earners.

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) wrote a scathing op-ed, which was published in The Hill Tuesday, in which she lambasted lawmakers who questioned US district judicial nominee Brian Buescher about his affiliation with the Catholic organization, Knights of Columbus. While Rep. Gabbard never mentioned Sen. Hirono by name, the only two Senators to have made an issue of Buescher's participation in the Knights of Columbus were Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) and Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI).

According to a new USA Today/Suffolk poll, Democrats and independents have little enthusiasm for the rising stars within the Democratic Party or a few of seasoned veterans except for former Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT). However, the poll didn't include former First Lady Michelle Obama. Professor Jacobson blogged yesterday that early polling shows Michelle dominating Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA).

As a Catholic woman, I am very familiar with the faith-based, charity activities organized by our parish's Knights of Columbus group. I must have missed the memo saying it was a chauvinist, religious cabal intent on creating a pontifical version of "A Handmaid's Tale". It's a good thing US senators Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) and Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii) are on top of things.

Midterms are over, so it's time for Democrat presidential hopefuls to eye the 2020 presidential election.  Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) is the latest to announce her plans to make a decision about running for the Democrat nomination. At the Know Your Value conference in San Francisco, Harris told co-host Mika Brzezinski that deciding to run is a "very serious decision":  “Over the holiday, I will make that decision with my family.”
