2020 Presidential Election Tag

In a bizarrely congratulatory, even boastful, article entitled "The Secret History of the Shadow Campaign That Saved the 2020 Election," Time sketches a chilling portrait of a "well-funded cabal" of Democrats, activists, the media, Never Trumpers, unions, Big Tech, and Big Business who conspired to ensure that President Trump lost his reelection bid and was unsuccessful in his efforts to challenge the results.

The latest premise Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats are pushing to impeach President Trump is just as flawed and just as insubstantial as the first one they peddled.  They point to Trump's January 6, 2021 speech and claim that his rhetoric "incited insurrection" among other equally hysterical claims.

European leaders and the mainstream media on the other side of the Atlantic came out in unison to condemn the violence in the Capitol Hill. The leaders of the three leading European powers, the United Kingdom, Germany and France, found the harshest words to criticize pro-Trump protesters responsible for the mayhem.

It's often hard to understand the impact an event will have in the future when you are going through it in real time or soon after. Today's storming of the Capitol, including rioting, is one of those real-time events about which I'm comfortable reaching some conclusions.

Twelve Republican Senators and Senators Elect, led by Ted Cruz, have released a Joint Letter calling for appointment of an Electoral Commission to conduct an emergency 10-day audit of results in disputed states, to be completed in time for the January 20 inauguration, including giving state legislature's time to change their electoral votes if the audit reveals fraud.
