The California Supreme Court has just struck down a state law that required President Trump to release his tax returns in order to appear on the state’s primary ballot.
Justices in Sacramento said that the law – which required all candidates for president and governor to submit five years’ worth of personal income tax returns in order to be included on primary ballots – was unconstitutional.

Pope Francis appears to be contemplating the of “ecological sin” to the Catholic catechism, based on remarks he recently made members of the International Association of Penal Law.
“We have to introduce, we are thinking about it, in the catechism of the Catholic Church, the sin against ecology, the sin against our common home, because it’s a duty,” he said.

Hong Kong pro-democracy protesters have paralyzed parts of the city for the past several days by forcing schools to close, blocking highways, and escalating the intensity of the demonstrations.
Protesters have torched vehicles and buildings, hurled petrol bombs at police stations and trains, dropped debris from bridges on to traffic below and vandalized shopping malls and campuses, raising questions about how and when more than five months of unrest can be brought to an end.

We recently covered the troubling incidents of illness, lung injury, and potential fatalities associated with vaping. Initial reports suggested that additives, such as Vitamin E Acetate, triggered immune system reactions and other symptoms that lead to serious medical problems. Now the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has officially linked Vitamin E Acetate to the reported health problems.

The climate cult group known as Extinction Rebellion is now taking its city-shutdown antics to the Middle East.
Off-shoots of the group that advocates peaceful protest as a way to pile on pressure to curb global warming are sprouting from Beirut to Doha, as activists in the oil-rich region want governments to ditch fossil fuels for renewable energy sources.

When the history of President Donald Trump's administration is written, perhaps one of the biggest ironies is that the man most responsible for toppling the #Resistance comes from the state that is the center of the anti-Trump movement. We have covered the rapid deterioration of public health conditions in California, especially in the feces-strewn streets of San Francisco. Instead of focusing on issues of sanitation, job creation, or at least ensuring there are more high school students than drug addicts in the city, activists have chosen to honor Swedish "climate crisis" activist Greta Thunberg with a giant mural that will grace the skyline.

Two of my good friends have children who are asthmatic. In fact, one of them nearly lost her daughter, who had a dreadful asthmatic attack due to inhaling post-wildfire particulates.  The child would have died without her inhaler. However, green justice warriors have decided that the luxury of being able to breathe pales in comparison to saving the planet from minuscule amounts of greenhouse gases.

Los Angeles area public health officials have reported that more than 1,000 homeless people died in the county last year, double the number of deaths from six years ago.
The LA county public health department reported this week that 1,047 homeless people died last year, a number that has steadily increased every year since 2013, when 536 people died. The leading causes of death were coronary heart disease, which accounted for 22% of deaths, followed by alcohol and drug overdose at 21%, transportation-related injuries at 9%, homicides at 6% and suicides at 5%.

The Trump administration officially notified the United Nations it will formally withdraw the US from the Paris Climate Accord, which is the first formal step in a one-year process.
The move would leave the US as the only country outside the accord, a decision President Trump promised early in his term to unfetter America’s domestic oil, gas and coal industries. “What we won’t do is punish the American people while enriching foreign polluters,” Trump said at a shale gas industry conference in Pennsylvania on Oct. 23, referring to his planned withdrawal from the agreement.

A North Korean official indicates that the rogue nation is growing impatient with the U.S. over stalled nuclear talks, warning of "exchange of fire."
Kim Yong Chol said in a statement there has been no progress in U.S.-North Korea relations. He warned that the cordial relationship between dictator Kim Jong Un and President Trump wouldn't be enough to prevent nuclear diplomacy from failing, threatening that "there could be the exchange of fire at any moment."

As the winds of October continue to buffet the state, brush fires have broken out across Southern California, forcing mass evacuations, closing major freeways, and threatening the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library.
The cycle of fire began Wednesday morning when flames surrounded the library and museum in Simi Valley and stalked nearby neighborhoods as it swiftly scorched hundreds of acres in Ventura County. As the day wore on and the winds howled, more than a dozen other smaller fires erupted in communities including Riverside, Santa Clarita, Brea, Whittier, Lancaster, Calabasas, Long Beach, Nuevo and Jurupa Valley. The outlook was brighter in Northern California, where thousands of evacuees began to return home as firefighters started to gain the upper hand on the wine country blaze that has scorched more than 76,000 acres and burned dozens of homes. The biggest battle Wednesday was in Ventura County, where 800 firefighters trying to control the wind-whipped fire surrounding the presidential library were stymied by intense gusts that sent embers flying far beyond the body of the blaze. Helicopters repeatedly dropped loads of water around the Reagan complex, which is perched atop a hill blanketed in dense brush, amid 60-mph winds that were strong enough to knock a person off balance.
