A video footage, in which President Donald Trump apparently ignores a handshake request from the visiting German Chancellor Angela Merkel during a photo op in the Oval Office, has irked the German press. In the video, press photographers can be heard urging both leaders to shake hands for the photo. Prompted by reporters, Merkel is heard asking Trump: “Do you want to do the handshake?” Trump appears to ignore the request. German broadcaster NTV complained lack of public affection during the bilateral meeting with the headline “No Kiss On the Cheek, No Patting”. The German TV channel contrasted Trump’s apparent snub of Merkel with chivalry shown by him towards the British Prime Minister Theresa May during her Whitehouse visit in January.

Has there ever been someone with so few real life accomplishments who got handed such great opportunities as Chelsea Clinton? You may recall her six-figure gig at NBC a few years ago. Now she's moving on to another green pasture, this time at Expedia. CNN reports:
Expedia names Chelsea Clinton to board of directors In a public filing posted Friday, the travel site said it named Clinton -- the daughter of Hillary Clinton -- as a member of its board on Thursday.

A man on the French terror watch list shot and wounded a police officer in northern Paris before traveling to Orly airport where he tackled a female soldier and tried to take her rifle.  She was among the French soldiers on anti-terror patrols of the airport.  She did not release her weapon to the terrorist, and he was subsequently shot and killed by other soldiers. The dead terrorist has been identified as Ziyed Ben Belgacem, a radicalized Muslim whose apartment was among those searched following the coordinated Paris terror attacks in November 2015.

After the recent incident at Middlebury College, during which a mob of students prevented Professor Charles Murray from speaking and sent a professor to the emergency room, people are finally starting to notice that protest culture on college campuses is out of control. This wasn't an isolated incident. We've documented similar events on this site numerous times. This time however, people on the left took notice. Frank Bruni writes at the New York Times:
The Dangerous Safety of College The moral of the recent melee at Middlebury College, where students shouted down and chased away a controversial social scientist, isn’t just about free speech, though that’s the rubric under which the ugly incident has been tucked. It’s about emotional coddling. It’s about intellectual impoverishment.

This is a truly bizarre case. Remember Kurt Eichenwald? The Journalist who claimed he was assaulted by a tweet? Well, the FBI confirmed Friday they've arrested John Rivello, the suspect they believe sent a "seizure-inducing" tweet to Dallas reporter, Kurt Eichenwald. Eichenwald claims the tweet triggered an epileptic seizure. Professor Jacobson covered the case in December. For background, see here.

One of the most astounding revelations from the Podesta email published by Wikileaks was that then interim DNC Chair and CNN commentator Donna Brazile leaked potential primary town hall questions to the Clinton campaign. That was astounding in two regards -- that it happened, and that the media didn't make a bigger deal about it. Just imagine what the media reaction would have been if during the general election it came out that questions during Republican primary debates had been leaked to the Trump campaign. It would have been non-stop, 24/7, foaming at the mouth coverage demanding Trump drop out of the race. We covered the deception:

Rachel Maddow's big SCOOP on Donald Trump's tax return turned into an embarrassing flop, with mockery coming at her from all directions, Rachel Maddow’s career committed suicide live on national TV tonight. Maddow did the unthinkable -- bringing together pro-Trump and anti-Trump together in horror at the horrendous clickbait. What was key was how Maddow herself build up the expectations with a pre-show tweet:
