Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt, President-elect Donald Trump's nominee to lead the EPA, will face the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee at 10AM EST. This has potential to become one of the more feisty confirmation hearings because of his ties to everything Democrats hate: fossil fuels, skeptical of man-made climate change, and lawsuits against the EPA. Please watch live with us below and follow along as I live blog the hearing!

The activists beyond the "Resistance" to Donald Trump's Inauguration are urging students nationwide to walk out of classes on Friday, January 20, 2017, just prior to Trump's swearing in. The College Fix reports:
A student socialist group has organized a nationwide walkout on Friday to protest the presidential inauguration of Donald Trump, fearing the new president and his party will “unleash a storm of attacks” on various segments of the American population. The National Student Walkout Against Bigotry & Hate is organized by Socialist Students, a campus arm of Socialist Alternative.

Leftists are already descending on the Washington, DC area in anticipation of Trump's inauguration on Friday. Some of them decided it would be a good idea to invade classrooms at Georgetown University. Campus Reform reports:

Obama is ending his presidency not only with a flurry of commutations, but also with appointments to various commissions and governmental entities. One of those entities is the United States Holocaust Memorial Council, to which Obama just appointed Ben Rhodes. The Jerusalem Post reports:
With only three days left in office, US President Barack Obama announced several key administration posts on Wednesday, including the placement of Benjamin Rhodes, one of his top foreign policy advisers, on the United States Holocaust Memorial Council.

In the final days of his presidency, President Obama commuted most of the remaining sentence for intelligence leaker Bradley (Chelsea) Manning. Manning, who has served seven years of a thirty-five-year sentence, will be released by May 17 of this year. White House Press Secretary Joshua Earnest was asked why Manning's sentence was commuted while fellow intel leaker, Edward Snowden's, application for clemency has not yet been accepted:

Betsy DeVos, President-elect Donald Trump's pick for education secretary, has her confirmation hearing in front of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions at 5PM ET. The Democrats picked her as one of the eight nominees they want to grill the most. DeVos has remained an advocate for school choice and used money to help establish charter schools in Detroit, MI. Of course, the Democrats have concerns over her massive donations to Republicans, including some that sit on the panel, and the Republican National Committee. We'll be liveblogging beneath.

I appeared on January 16, 2017, on The Dennis Prager Show to discuss the shutdown of Legal Insurrection's YouTube account, as detailed in these prior posts: We frequently run PragerU videos, which are excellent both as to topic and production quality. Scroll through the PragerU Videos tag to see the ones we have posted.

Three more American companies have announced plans to add and keep jobs in America on the heels of President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration on Friday. Walmart wants to add 10,000 jobs in 2017 across the country while General Motors (GM) will invest $1 billion into several factories to help more than 1,000 jobs. With Walmart, the company will add these new jobs by building new stores, expansion, and adding more e-commerce services. The construction of the new stores will add 24,000 construction jobs:
"Walmart is investing to better serve customers,” said Dan Bartlett, Walmart executive vice president for corporate affairs. “With a presence in thousands of communities and a vast supplier network, we know we play an important role in supporting and creating American jobs. Our 2017 plans to grow our business – and our support for innovation in the textile industry – will have a meaningful impact across the country.”

We recently reported that a website, DisruptJ20, has been created that seems to be the clearing house for the left’s plans to shut down the Inauguration of Donald Trump. James O’Keefe's Project Veritas has just released compelling video, demonstrating how the alt-Left operates at the sleaziest and most destructive levels, and showing one potential DisruptJ20 operation. The first installment of the newest undercover project shows members of an “anti-fascist coalition” planning to sabotage an inauguration party with butyric acid bombs. The hidden camera captures D.C. Anti-Fascist Coalition's Colin Dunn, Luke Kuhn, and Scott Green discussing how to shut down the "Deploraball", a gala slated on the eve before the Inauguration.

With German Chancellor Angela Merkel threatening U.K. with tough trade negotiations -- or ‘hard Brexit, -- for daring to leave the E.U., the Trump presidency has come at a very opportune time for the beleaguered British government. President-elect Donald Trump's proposed U.S.-U.K. trade deal could destroy EU's designs, Professor Ted Malloch said, the man tapped to be the next U.S. ambassador to the E.U. in the Trump administration while talking to the British newspaper Daily Express. Malloch, who is reportedly being vetted by the presidential transition team, was optimistic about a bilateral trade agreement once U.K. formally leaves the union. "I would hope on the day Britain triggers Article 50 [formal notification of withdrawal from the E.U.], Mrs. May will be able to announce we’ve just started discussions with the United States – an even larger market for free trade," Malloch said.

Mika Brzezinski is an unabashed liberal, someone who pushed Elizabeth Warren to run for president and subsequently became a Bernie Sanders fan. But she has also proved herself willing to criticize her own, be they politicians or, as this morning, fellow members of the MSM. On today's Morning Joe, Brzezinski first criticized CNN's Jim Acosta for his pro-John Lewis speech in the guise of a question to MLK III after his meeting with Donald Trump. A bit later, she expanded on the point in a very pointed way: "we [in the MSM] decipher Democrats and make them sound great. And we make Republicans sound like complete—the word we won't use."

You would have thought no California Democratic politician would act loonier after Donald Trump's presidential victory than Governor Jerry "Moonbeam" Brown, who threatened to launch a state-sponsored satellite in response to the incoming administration proposals to return NASA's focus back to space exploration. But never underestimate the ability of the Party's representatives in the Golden State to plummet off the deep end and sink to the lowest possible level.
