December 2016

If you haven't already discovered Tucker Carlson's new Fox News show, weekdays at 7pm, do yourself a favor and check it out. This Insurrectionist says it's the most entertaining conservative hour on TV. Carlson opens most shows with a left-wing guest whom he politely, but fearlessly, takes on. Tonight's lib, environmentalist Erin Schrode, had, in response to Time naming Donald Trump its Person of the Year, compared Trump to Hitler. When toward the end of the segment, Schrode decried Trump's "name-calling and hate speech and toxic rhetoric," Carlson pounced. "You just compared this guy to Hitler and then with a straight face you're going to accuse him of engaging in hate speech?!! I'm sorry. I can barely hear. The irony alarm is so loud in the background." Can't remember the last time I saw a lefty so clearly confronted with her flaming hypocrisy!

It's day seven in the presidential vote recount instigated by failed Green Party presidential candidate, Jill Stein. As of today, the recount is 70% complete. The deadline to finish is 8:00 PM, December 12.

When Donald Trump makes his final cabinet nomination, it will be hard to pick out which of the bold selections is most golden. Retired Marine General James Mattis as Secretary of Defense was in the running for my top choice. However, it appears that Myron Ebell, the climate change "criminal" who is spear-heading Trump's EPA transition team, was busy identifying a nominee for EPA Chief who just bumped "Mad Dog" Mattis down a notch on my list.

UPDATE (by WAJ): At about 7:45 p.m. tonight the District Court dissolved the TRO that kept the recount going, effectively ending the Michigan Recount since the state court ordered a halt. Full Order at bottom of post:
.... Because there is no basis for this Court to ignore the Michigan court’s ruling and make an independent judgment regarding what the Michigan Legislature intended by the term “aggrieved,” Plaintiffs have not shown an entitlement to a recount under Michigan’s statutory scheme....

President-elect Donald Trump has picked retired Marine Gen. John F. Kelly to lead the Department of Homeland Security, who has become well known for his bluntness. Trump has now picked three generals for positions within his administration:
General Kelly, 66, who led the United States Southern Command, had a 40-year career in the Marine Corps, and led troops in intense combat in western Iraq. In 2003, he became the first Marine colonel since 1951 to be promoted to brigadier general while in active combat.

President-elect Donald Trump has chosen Iowa Governor Terry Branstad as Ambassador to China, who has a strong relationship with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Ian Millhiser at Think Progress took a shot at the decision because, you know, no matter what Trump does the liberals will hate it. Millhiser responded to Trump's pick by saying that the governor from a "landlocked state full of white people" does not know enough about China. Let's tell him a bit about Iowa and China's relationship!

75 years ago today, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. On December 8, President Franklin D. Roosevelt delivered one of the most famous speeches, which the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum will display until December 31:
“Yesterday, December 7, 1941 — a date which will live in infamy — the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.”

The Washington Post has revealed that the Pentagon hid $125 billion in wasteful spending because officials feared Congress would use the evidence "to slash the defense budget." The study started with good intentions. Deputy Defense Secretary Robert O. Work wanted the Defense Business Board to operate the study in order to become "more efficient and reinvest any savings in combat power." But Work immediately changed his mind when the board presented its findings.

Not everyone who works in the entertainment business is a liberal. KISS front man Gene Simmons definitely leans right and he has some words of advice for liberals in his industry who are freaking out over Trump. Shut your pie holes. He made the remarks in an appearance on the FOX Business Network with Charles Payne:
KISS Front Man Gene Simmons: Celebrities Should Shut Their Pie Holes KISS front man Gene Simmons thinks it’s time for celebrities to keep their political opinions to themselves—especially when it comes to the results of the 2016 presidential election.

Failed Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein sued for a recount in Michigan. That suit has created tension between Michigan's state government and the federal government. Tuesday evening, Michigan's Court of Appeals ordered a halt to the recount, saying Stein was not an aggrieved candidate who would benefit from a recount. At the same time, the 6th Circuit ruled the must proceed.
