A funny thing happened on the internet Tuesday night. The left wing sports site Deadspin, a creation of the now defunct Gawker, tried to mess with Senator Ted Cruz and got owned. Big league. Here are the basic facts from CNN:
Univision's Deadspin tells Sen. Ted Cruz to 'eat s---' Deadspin, which is owned by Hispanic media giant Univision Communications, sent a tweet on Tuesday night telling the Texas senator to "go eat shit." Univision spokesperson Rosemary Mercedes did not comment. Deadspin previously drew scrutiny in 2013 for telling Donald Trump "go f--- yourself." At that time, Deadspin was owned by Gawker Media. It was acquired by Univision last year.

NFL analyst and former Washington Redskins quarterback Joe Theismann tore into the San Francisco 49ers after the team gave quarterback Colin Kaepernick the Len Eshmont Award. The team chooses the player "49er who best exemplifies the inspirational and courageous play of Len Eshmont, an original member of the 1946 49ers team." This 49ers team did not perform well at all:
“This award doesn’t mean anything to me,” said Theismann, who led the Washington Redskins to two Super Bowl appearances, winning one, in the 1980s. “Inspired and courageous? You’re 2-14. What did he inspire? You’re [1-10] as a quarterback [this season]. What [did] you possibly inspire?”
But it goes deeper than that since Kaepernick started a trend of kneeling during the national anthem.

The NCAA placed Notre Dame on academic probation for a scandal concerning an athletic trainer and a student. WNDU reports:
The NCAA found that she committed academic misconduct for two football players and gave six other players impermissible academic extra benefits. The university self-reported the potential violations and kept five players off the field before the 2014 season.

The 2016 Chicago Cubs have eliminated those curses and jinxes when they defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-0 in the National League Championship Series on Saturday night to advance to their first World Series since 1945. https://twitter.com/Cubs/status/790023493668642816 Why is this so important?
