Saturday, May 12 is the first official Cultural Appreciation Day here at Legal Insurrection. If you've followed the news lately (and we assume that if you're a regular reader, you do), you've been MADE aware that something as innocuous as a thrift store prom purchase triggers half the internet. The social justice warriors beam in from social justice utopia to be judgy, vile, and completely ignorant bullies over something they call "cultural appropriation."

The College of Holy Cross, a Catholic school, has decided to drop its knight mascot and change the name of the school paper because it links them to the horrible violence that occurred during the Crusades. Because, you know, only the Christians did horrible things during the Crusades.

When I first saw this story, I thought maybe it was a hoax, or at least parody. But apparently it's for real, or at least the campus newspaper The Spectator treats it as being real. It's about my alma mater, Hamilton College, which has seen its share of social justice activism in recent years reflecting a generational faculty shift to the left.  Hamilton is a textbook example of how a relatively small group of left-wing faculty activists can take over an institution, as detailed in our 2012 post, Western Civilization driven off campus at Hamilton College.

Social justice activism is usually associated with higher education. We have documented the campus antics of social justice warriors countless times. But what would happen if you started training children from grades K to 12 to become SJWs? One school system in Minnesota is doing just that, and the results are not good.
