New polling data released from Public Policy Polling indicated 13% or respondents would rather the Earth suffer a collision with a giant meteor before voting for Hillary or Trump. Apparently, "Giant Meteor" is more popular than any independent candidate actually running for president. Giant Meteor was a particular favorite among independent voters, where it polled at 27% to Clinton's 43% and Trump's 38%.

The State Department has asked for a 27 month delay to release emails from Hillary Clinton when she served as secretary of state. That means the department would not release the emails until October 2018, over a year into Clinton's presidency if she should win in November.

Reports this morning indicate that Loretta Lynch is likely to accept the recommendation of the FBI as to prosecuting Hillary. The NY Times and initial reports on MSNBC indicated this was tantamount to a recusal, but the DOJ is now walking it back just a little, saying the likelihood of her overruling the FBI is very low, but not zero. I pointed out on June 29 that the real story here is not just the meeting, but also that Lynch and Clinton kept it secret until a local reporter found out about it from a source and questioned Lynch during a press conference:
If there was no appearance of impropriety, why did Lynch wait until a local news crew, apparently tipped off, asked her about it?

Who's even more powerful than the king? The person who gets to pick the king. And as of this morning that person is, quite possibly, FBI Director James Comey. Today's Morning Joe reported breaking news from the New York Times: Attorney General Loretta Lynch has decided that she will accept the recommendation of the FBI regarding its investigation of Hillary Clinton's e-mails. If Comey recommends against an indictment of Hillary, that would lift a huge cloud that has been dragging her candidacy down. It would put Hillary in a very strong position to become the next president. But should Comey recommend the indictment of Hillary, her candidacy would effectively be destroyed. Dems might scramble to replace her as their candidate, but in any case Donald Trump would be well-positioned to win the election.

Huma Abedin, Hillary Clinton's top aide, stated that Clinton's private email server during her tenure as secretary of state frustrated the entire staff. It caused her to miss a phone call from the French foreign minister:
“She missed the call because . . . I never got the email giving us the signoff to do it [the meeting]. So she wasn’t able to do her job, do what she needed to do,” Huma Abedin testified Tuesday during a deposition in a lawsuit filed by a government watchdog.

There are many things that raise serious questions about the meeting between Attorney General Loretta Lynch and the husband of a woman under FBI investigation, namely Bill Clinton. As I wrote yesterday, Gross appearance of impropriety in AG Lynch private meeting with Bill Clinton:
Neither Lynch nor Bill Clinton are dummies. They both know that such a private meeting creates the appearance of impropriety regardless of what was discussed. Bill Clinton’s wife is being investigated by the FBI — why do you think he dropped in for a chat with Lynch? Of course they didn’t discuss the case. They didn’t need to. If there was no appearance of impropriety, why did Lynch wait until a local news crew, apparently tipped off, asked her about it?
I don't think enough media focus has been on the non-disclosure. If not for the media tip-off, no one would have known the meeting took place except for Lynch, Clinton, and security details. And none of them are going to go on the record, at least not now.

What do you call an Attorney General who meets privately with the husband of a person under FBI investigation, and only discloses it when asked? Loretta Lynch. This is the last straw for me, when it comes to Lynch. I opposed my former law school classmate's nomination because her congressional testimony indicated she would be too political. Events have confirmed my fears, from suggestions that "hate speech" might be prosecutable, to the threat to sue people who disagree with the administration on climate change, her political grandstanding on the North Carolina bathroom law, to the attempt to edit out references to Islam and ISIS from the 911 transcript of the Orlando terrorist.

The Select Committee on Benghazi has released their final report on the 2012 terrorist attacks in Libya that killed four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens. Instead of rescuing personnel, the Obama administration "huddled to craft their public response while military assets waited hours to deploy to Libya." Evidence also showed that security forces under ex-dictator Qaddafi actually helped move out the U.S. personnel from the annex.

Judicial watch received more emails from then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, including one that showed concern about how the State Department treated her records. She wrote on March 22, 2009, to Huma Abedin and Lauren Jiloty, her former special assistant:
I have just realized I have no idea how my papers are treated at State. Who manages both my personal and official files?

Go ahead, Hillary: make our day . . . In the wake of Elizabeth Warren's joint appearance with Clinton in Ohio yesterday, today's Morning Joe panel went gaga pver Warren, promoting her for Hillary's VP pick. Joe Scarborough proclaimed that Warren "is Led Zeppelin" for the way she fills a stage. Mika Brzezinksi, long a big Warren booster, suggested that because Hillary wants to win, she will put Warren on the ticket. Scarborough went so far as to declare that any Hillary VP pick other than Warren would "look like a dud."

After a long and bitter primary battle, Bernie Sanders is finally saying he'll vote for Hillary Clinton, an admission that's got to sting his most ardent supporters. Like Elizabeth Warren, Sanders will now throw his support behind the official candidate of Wall Street and big banks. Unlike Warren, he's not endorsing Hillary just yet. NPR reports:

Several chapters back in the Hillary EmailGate Saga, we learned that she deleted half of her emails because they were "personal" in nature. How the woman was able to do her job when every other email was personal and not work-related is an entirely different matter, but explains a fair amount. Yesterday, Mary blogged about security features disabled by the State Department so that Hillary could receive emails to her personal email account. Now, it looks like Hilary failed to turn over a key work-related email.

Emails received by Judicial Watch on Wednesday show that problems with Hillary Clinton's email server caused the State Department to disable security features. Kenneth LaVolpe, a senior technical official, told his IT employees in a December 2010 email that the security issues "should trump all other activities." But emails dated 2011 and 2012 show that problems continued.

It's not that Trump has never criticized Hillary Clinton before. But a speech Trump gave today focused on those criticisms. I've been expecting that to happen, because realistically speaking it's his best and perhaps only chance---to ramp up the already-existent dislike and disapproval of Clinton (and the Clintons as a duo), and to make people vote for him as a reaction to her. To me, the most powerful part of the speech---and a theme Trump should hammer home, because this is the sort of thing that could change the minds of people who are not already predisposed to vote for him, women and the LGBT community---was this:
I only want to admit people who share our values and love our people. Hillary Clinton wants to bring in people who believe women should be enslaved and gays put to death.

Hillary Clinton: the patriotic choice for president? That seems the implication of Chuck Todd's challenge to Paul Ryan in an interview aired on today's Meet The Press. When Ryan told Todd that as Speaker of the House, he was supporting Trump, Todd retorted: "you just made a case though for party over country." How absurd! As Ryan rightly went on to explain to Todd, "No I didn't! I know Hillary Clinton won't agree with anything we want to do. She'll put a bad judge on the Supreme Court. She won't agree with any of the conservative reforms we're trying to do." But in the mind of Chuck Todd and others in the MSM, supporting the Dem candidate isn't merely preferable, it's the only decent, American thing to do!

Hillary Clinton has a brand new scandal to deal with. The ongoing investigation into her emails has revealed that a donor to the Clinton Foundation landed a plum appointment with a government intelligence board despite the fact that he had no relevant experience. ABC News has the story:
