The European Union wants to restart its tourism sector as the spread of coronavirus recedes, a newly released policy document shows. A strategy document compiled by the European Commission, EU's executive arm, titled “Europe needs a break” recommends gradual lifting of border restrictions between member states to promote inner-European travel, the news agency Reuters reported.

With Europe now officially the epicenter of the Coronavirus pandemic, Germany has announced its decision to close its borders with France, Austria, and Switzerland starting Monday, German news agency dpa reports. The German borders will remain closed barring some exceptions. Daily commuters and movement of goods have been exempted from the closure.

With thousands of migrants amassing at Europe's outer borders, German Chancellor Angela Merkel's left-wing coalition partner has called for a "Pact for Humanity" to bringing these asylum seekers directly into the country. Germany's ruling Social Democratic Party wants to take in "unaccompanied minors" trying to enter into Greece from Turkey, German media reports said.

Police in Greece fought back on Saturday to repel thousands of illegal immigrants along the Turkish border. The push back comes as tens of thousands of migrants are beginning to amass along the Turkish-Greek border. Angry migrants pelted stones at Greek guards and attempted to cut through border fences, news reports said. The Greek police fired tear gas in response.

Europe has been hit by a massive migrant wave after Turkey opened border crossings on Friday. Thousands of migrants started amassing along the Greek and Bulgarian borders, with Turkish authorities offering free bus rides for illegal migrants to reach border crossings.

A summit of top European Union leaders failed on Friday after German Chancellor Angela Merkel and other heads of government left the conference without an agreement on how to fill the hole created in the bloc's budget by Britain's exit. The leaders of 27 EU member states had gathered in Brussels to finalize the trillion-dollar-budget for the next seven years.

Almost a week after the United Kingdom left the European Union, French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday unveiled a pan-European nuclear doctrine as part of country's new military strategy. "The vital interests of France now have a European dimension," he declared during the graduation ceremony at the French War College, l'Ecole de Guerre. Following Brexit, France is now the only nuclear power within the EU.

Thousands took to the streets all across the United Kingdom to celebrate the country's exit from the European Union. "People dance in the street to celebrate Brexit as UK leaves European Union," The Manchester Evening News, reported.

The European Union and European governments are funding several non-governmental organizations (NGOs) linked to a Palestinian terrorist group, the watchdog NGO Monitor disclosed. The research done by the Jerusalem-based watchdog group exposed eight NGOs as having operational ties to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), a U.S. and EU-designated terrorist group.
