2017 is ending with a series of Arctic blasts impacting holiday travelers across the American heartland. One storm that has dumped more than 65 inches of snow in Pennsylvania, creating travel chaos and forcing one of the state's counties to declare an emergency.

This year, the American press has suppressed news related to the near assassination of the Republican congressional baseball team by a Bernie Sanders supporter and the apparently brutal beating of Senator Rand Paul by a neighbor whose Facebook pages are filled with anti-Trump messages. In this environment, it is no wonder that Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt, who has rolled back many toxic climate change regulations, feels the need to direct his agency's dollars to his own security.

Shortly after Donald Trump was elected President, I noted that California Governor Jerry Brown essentially designated himself as President of the Left Coast. So it is with some amusement that I noted the headline in Politico discussing Brown's European "Climate Change" tour: Jerry Brown, President of the Independent Republic of California.
...In the raw balance of power between a governor and a president, Brown has almost no standing abroad. What he does have is a platform, and a proposition: Crusading across Europe in his Fitbit and his dark, boxy suit, Brown advances California and its policies almost as an alternative to the United States—and his waning governorship, after a lifetime in politics, as a quixotic rejection of the provincial limits of the American governor. In the growing chasm between Trump’s Washington and California—principally on climate change, but also taxes, health care, gun control and immigration—Brown is functioning as the head of something closer to a country than a state.

Last night, my inbox was filled with how the latest "National Climate Assessment" released by the administration counters what President Donald Trump and Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt have said about the questionable assertions about man-made climate change and the policies that are derived from the ludicrous theories. The following muck from The Washington Post is a great example of the elite media spinning a narrative that is demonstrably false in scientific terms but that fits their politically-motivated agenda:

It is difficult to keep track of all the #WINNING that I enjoyed this past week, between the implosion of RussiaGate and the IRS apology to Tea Party groups. Personally, I am savoring President Trump's efforts to reverse course on Obama's toxic domestic and foreign policies. Trump's regulatory rollbacks, as well as his nixing of the Paris Climate Accord and EPA head Scott Pruitt's ending the "Clean Power Plan", has already helped fuel the American economic engine.

The Caribbean is bracing for another, potentially catastrophic hurricane, and the US territory of Puerto Rico appears to be in its projected path.
Category 5 Hurricane Maria's maximum sustained winds have increased to 175 mph. The National Hurricane Center in Miami says an Air Force Reserve hurricane hunter plane took the reading Tuesday evening as the storm was about 60 miles (115 kilometers) southeast of St. Croix.

I get not liking someone and especially elected officials, but for all the talk of Trump's policy decisions being "cruel", you'd think there'd be a bit more self-awareness when wishing a monster storm rain fire, brimstone, and destruction on someone's home. And yet... Many, most in fact, invoked their Climatology religion (that's really what it's become), in their prayers for destruction of Trump's Mar-A-Lago estate.

It is scary how quickly media eco-activists have unleashed torrents of climate change pseudo-science on the American public since Hurricane Harvey hit. There are many articles now making the rounds on social media asserting that this deadly storm proves "climate change is real". Perhaps the most dramatic comes from the Godfather of Climate Change, Dr. Michael Mann, who penned the following analysis -- It's a fact: climate change made Hurricane Harvey more deadly:
Harvey was almost certainly more intense than it would have been in the absence of human-caused warming, which means stronger winds, more wind damage and a larger storm surge.

Just as the MSM demands more "gun control" after every mass shooting, so every severe weather event causes the MSM to start beating the "climate change" drum. And so it began on CNN this morning. CNN's Senior Political Analyst Ron Brownstein gave the standard disclaimer about not attributing any one storm to climate change, but then proceeded to come very close to doing just that. He quoted a former NOAA offical: "this is a preview of the future. There is no doubt that climate change makes . . . storms like this more common."

I have noted in previous posts, President Trump's National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is returning to its original mission: Focusing on space exploration and research. In the past month, the agency released plans for an ambitious project related to Earth's protection from asteroid strikes.
On Friday, the space agency announced plans to redirect the course of a small asteroid approaching Earth, as part of the Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART), according to a NASA press release.

The last time I fact-checked The New York Times, the Gray Lady was getting a much needed geography lesson about Arkansas. The lessons continue! Earlier this week, the newspaper-of-record published a front-page, bombshell report stating that a leaker had sent them a draft report of the National Climate Assessment, an analysis that the contact feared was being suppressed by the Trump administration. According the original article, the material wasn't being released because it contradicted the views of Team Trump.

As I have noted in previous posts, Trump's EPA chief has refocused the agency back to its core mission of protecting the environment from actual pollutants. Legal Insurrection readers may recall that President Donald Trump picked Georgia's former governor, Sonny Perdue, to head the United States Department of Agriculture. Like Scott Pruitt, Perdue is scaling back positions and making significant changes in his agency's policies. For example, there have already been alterations in the Michelle Obama's signature school lunch program.
