2020 Democratic Primary Tag

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) has made it known that he will not stop meeting or communicating with well-known anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan. Booker made the surprising declaration after an audience member at a faith breakfast asked if he would avoid Farrakhan due to his anti-Semitism.

Reparations for all the people! Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) proposed the Refund Equality Act in order to provide past tax refunds to LGBTQ couples. From NBC News:
“The federal government forced legally married same-sex couples in Massachusetts to file as individuals and pay more in taxes for almost a decade,” Warren said in a statement. “We need to call out that discrimination and to make it right — Congress should pass the Refund Equality Act immediately.”

Back in February, I wrote about two transgender sprinters who placed first and second in the Girls Indoor Track Championship held in Connecticut.  As I noted at the time, the same two transgender athletes had won the top spots the year before, as well. Three of the girls who competed in the track championship have now filed a federal discrimination complaint against a statewide policy on transgender athletes.

For the past week or so we've been treated to a breathless media elated that Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) is "surging" in her bid for the 2020 Democrat nomination for president. The problem? Her "surge" seems to be directly related to the cratering campaign of socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).

The Democratic National Committee has finally announced the twenty candidates will participate in the first primary debates at the end of this month. It's amazing that Bill de Blasio and Eric Swalwell made the cut. Real Clear Politics isn't even tracking Swalwell's campaign in its average of polls.

MSNBC host and conspiracy theorist Rachel Maddow will moderate the first Democratic primary debate along with NBC anchors Jose Diaz-Balart, Savannah Guthrie, Lester Holt, and Chuck Todd. Maddow is the only one out of those who host an opinion-based TV show, which caused some people to raise eyebrows. It does not help that Maddow has dived into numerous conspiracy theories since President Donald Trump took office.

There's not question that Elizabeth Warren has generated buzz with her serial proposals to transform the country. Whether her plans, which impose a government control of the economy that makes Obama seem like a free-market zealot, will sell in a general election is something even the NY Times is questioning:

On Saturday we celebrated National Best Friends Day because everything has a day. I guess former Vice President Joe Biden thought he could seize the day to remind people that he served next to President Barack Obama for eight years by posting their friendship bracelet. Cringeworthy doesn't quite cut it. Even some of Obama's closest aides rolled their eyes. Do you know what I find hilarious? The media, the left, and the right loved the Obama-Biden bromance... until now.
