The countdown begins. Will the Democrats take over the House? Will the GOP pick up more seats in the Senate? Will the Democrats sweep in the governor races? We will provide updates as they come in as many tight races on the east coast could provide some early clues as to who will come out on top and the tone of the 2020 presidential race.

The Huron Daily Tribune fired reporter Brenda Battel after she accidentally left an insulting voicemail for Michigan Republican Senate candidate John James. From The Daily Caller:
“Man, if he beats her [incumbent Democrat Sen. Debbie Stabenow]… Jesus! F***ing John James. That would suck! Whew, I don’t think it’s going to happen though,” Battel continued.

Chinese President Xi Jingping announced at the large China International Import Expo (CIIE) that he will lower tariffs and increase imports as a way to "demonstrate goodwill amid mounting frictions with the United States and others." While this appears like a good thing, Xi has made these promises before.

On Monday, President Donald Trump told Scott Thuman of the Sinclair Broadcast Group that out of everything that has happened in his first two years in office, he regrets his tone. From WJLA:
Trump said if there was anything he would try and redo it would be to soften his tone.
"I would like to have a much softer tone. I feel to a certain extent I have no choice, but maybe I do," Trump said. He attributed his tone during his first two years in office to wanting to get things done on his agenda, adding that he could have been softer in his delivery.

Today's the day! Election Day! Have you voted yet? Us at Legal Insurrection will keep this thread open all day to provide updates, analysis, and pictures of all the races across the nation. President Donald Trump's administration has officially restored sanctions on Iran that went away with the 2015 Iranian nuclear deal. At the same time, SWIFT, a financial messaging service based in Belgium, announced it will suspend "some unspecified Iranian banks’ access to its messaging system in the interest of the stability and integrity of the global financial system," but did not mention the US sanctions.

President Donald Trump's administration has announced that it will reimpose sanctions on Iran that were terminated under the 2015 nuclear deal. A few countries received exemptions. From Fox News:
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin announced the sanctions on Iran’s shipping, financial and energy sectors. Particularly, the sanctions will target Iran’s crude oil exports and will penalize countries that don’t stop importing oil and foreign companies that do business with certain Iranian entities.

A new poll from ABC15 Arizona and OH Predictive Insights has Republican Rep. Martha McSally ahead of Democrat Rep. Kyrsten Sinema for the senate seat, 52% to 45%. However, I am taking it with a little bit of salt because the article doesn't reveal its methodology and it was taken October 22 and 23...yet they just now release the numbers?

The media went wild and claimed that the city of Pittsburgh didn't want President Donald Trump and his family to visit and pay respects to those massacred 11 people on Sunday. Video inside the hospital has a different story. It shows the staff warmly greeting Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, Ivanka, and Jared Kushner. To disappointment of the media even more, Tree of Life Rabbi Jeffrey Myers only had nice things to say about Trump.

On Wednesday, President Donald Trump tweeted out an ad that features Luis Bracamontes and pictures of the migrant caravan in Mexico headed to our border. Trump wrote, "It is outrageous what the Democrats are doing to our Country. Vote Republican!" Bracamontes, a twice-deported Mexican, received the death penalty in 2014 for killing two cops and the video shows him grinning as he says, "I killed f***ing cops." The left and the media has called the ad racist, but is it really?
