This is one of my favorite pieces of American history. It speaks so much to who we are and who we are meant to be as a people. And that's why I post it every year. George Washington's Thanksgiving Proclamation written in 1789 is essential holiday reading. The colonies frequently set, "aside days of thanksgiving, prayer, and fasting in response to significant events," according to Mount Vernon's historical sources.

Tuesday, President Trump pardoned two turkeys -- Peas and Carrots. This year, voters selected the turkey to be pardoned via a poll on the White House's official website.

Around this time every year, coastal media trot out a series of articles "preparing" a very particular set of readers for encounters with opinions unlike their own, which says more about them than the subject of their writing, but anyway... This year is no different, except for the fact that their attempts to normalize contentious Thanksgiving Dinner conversation are far less veiled than years past. Once upon a time, there was at least a pretense of impartiality. But this is 2018 and everything with which they disagree is abhorrent and at the very least, racist.

Monday, actress Mareli Miniutti requested a restraining order against estranged boyfriend, Michael Avenatti. Avenatti is the fame-lusting attorney who represented porn actress Stormy Daniels. Miniutti alleges Avenatti called her an "ungrateful bitch" and forcibly removed her from his apartment, leaving her legs and back scratched up.

"Do not eat any romaine lettuce, including whole heads and hearts, chopped, organic and salad mixes with romaine until we learn more."...

A recent Rasmussen survey of a hypothetical match-up between former First Lady Michelle Obama and President Trump has Obama victorious. From Rasmussen:
Michelle Obama has been making the rounds promoting her new book, prompting buzz about a potential presidential run, which she has vehemently denied. But with the midterms over and the focus on 2020, voters think she’d stand a chance.

Will corporations never learn that knee-jerk reactions to online outrage are almost always factually vapid? Apparently not. Fast food chain Chipotle recently fired a manager after a viral video showed her refusing service to a group of young, black men. She also suggested the group of men did not have money to pay for their food, saying the last several times they frequented the restaurant, they didn't have money to pay. "You gotta pay because you’ve never had money when you come in here. We're not gonna make food unless you guys actually have money," she said.

Friday, Georgia Democrat candidate for Governor Stacy Abrams acknowledged that she had not and would not win, but refused to concede. Similar to her election night speech, Abrams criticized Kemp and claimed he is "leveraging his role as the state’s top elections official to suppress voters," according to the AJC.

More than a week after the election and we finally have a winner in Florida's Governor race -- Republican Ron DeSantis was declared the winner by enough of a margin to stave off a hand recount. The results won't be certified until next week, which is a little concerning given the shenanigans we've seen during the recount process.
