Following the truly horrific 2015 revelations that Planned Parenthood was harvesting baby parts and haggling over baby brains for profit, Republican governors across the nation moved to ban taxpayer funding to Planned Parenthood.  In February 2016, then-Ohio Governor John Kasich signed into law a bill that restricted state funding to Planned Parenthood. While a lower court had previously blocked the state from stripping $1.5 million in funding from the nation's top abortion provider, the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled Tuesday that Ohio can indeed defund Planned Parenthood.

We turned our clocks forward Saturday before bedtime for Daylight Savings Time (DST), which left us with one hour less of sleep on Sunday. Most of us dragged ourselves around the final day of the weekend. A lot of us also complained about the time change on social media, including politicians. President Donald Trump voiced his support for making DST permanent, but to do that involves Congress.

US District Judge Amy Berman Jackson sentenced Paul Manafort, the former campaign chair for President Donald Trump, to an additional 43 months. US District Judge T.S. Ellis sentenced Manafort to 47 months. That means Manafort will spend 90 months in prison for a total of 7.5 years, "minus nine months credit for time served." Right after sentencing, Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance, Jr., indicted Manafort on 16 charges that Trump cannot pardon him from.

CNN's Jim Acosta is nothing if not predictable. In the middle of the Democratic party infighting caused by the anti-Semitic rhetoric we've heard from Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) in recent weeks, Acosta saw fit not to question the comments themselves, but instead President Trump's grim assessment of the Democratic party's relationship with the Jewish community.

In a sweeping sting dubbed "Operation Varsity Blues," the FBI and federal authorities in Boston have charged 50 people in what has become the largest college admissions cheating scandal in history. Parents, including actresses Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin, allegedly paid millions in bribes, to secure college admission for their children. Payments were not made directly to schools, but to coaches and other figures.

This quote from the L.A. Times about Michael Avenatti and Stormy Daniels (aka Stephanie Clifford) parting ways perfectly sums up the result of Avenatti's legal prowess:
"While the two lawsuits produced no courtroom victory for Avenatti, they did turn him into a celebrity"

Jake's Dilemma, a bar on the Upper West Side in New York City, has disciplined a bartender who refused service to Dion Cini since he wore a MAGA hat. From NBC New York:
He said a female bartender had been serving him, and when a new bartender started his shift he saw them whispering together and looking at him. “I knew what was going to happen so I started recording. I’ve been refused service before in New York City but I've never had service when they've taken my money and then kicked me out before I finished my food,” he said.

Last month, we told you about the latest, violent, anti-Semitic attacks in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn.  Here's a reminder of how bad it's become there:
Some 10 people were violently attacked in the last 60 days alone,” noted Rabbi Yaacov Behrman, who heads the Crown Heights-based “Jewish Future Alliance,” in a statement on Wednesday.
