President Donald Trump's former lawyer Michael Cohen has started his testimony in front of the House Oversight Committee. Reports have shown that Cohen will show lawmakers documents that include "a check signed by the president as part of his reimbursement for the $130,000 Stormy Daniels payment — Mr. Cohen had paid the porn star from his home-equity line of credit — and financial statements intended to demonstrate how Mr. Trump manipulated his net worth for business and personal purposes, including to reduce his tax liability." However, his prepared remarks show he saw no direct evidence of collusion.

The United Kingdom is supposed to leave the European Union next month, but even after two years of negotiations and talks, it may not happen on time. This is why British Prime Minister Theresa May told Parliament if the members reject her Brexit deal on March 12, she will give them an opportunity to vote "on 13 March on leaving with no deal." If the members reject that, the members can "vote on 14 March for an extension to Article 50."

Rotten Tomatoes had an option for people to vote on movies they want to see before the release. Since people have trashed Captain Marvel and Star Wars: Episode XI, the movie rating site has decided to remove it as a way to fight so-called trolls. So I guess now when people don't want to see what should be popular movies they are trolls. I guess it has absolutely nothing to do with Captain Marvel star Brie Larson's trashing of white males and the fact that The Last Jedi sucked.

Seven years ago George Zimmerman shot Trayvon Martin in lawful self-defense, as Martin beat Zimmerman to a bloody pulp Mixed Martial Arts style. Martin died of a single shot. The eyewitness and forensic evidence introduced at trial corroborated Zimmerman's account of being sucker punched in the nose, something Martin had bragged in text messages, kept from the jury, was his preferred method of starting fights. An eyewitness witnessed the beating, and the forensics were completely consistent with Zimmerman's account.

One of the more curious opinions was handed down by the Supreme Court as part of its February 25, 2019 Order List. The Opinion was Yovino v. Rizo (pdf.)(full embed at bottom of post), arising out of the 9th Circuit. The issue was whether the vote on the case of the late Judge Stephen Reinhardt could be counted where he expressed his vote while alive, but died before the opinion was filed. The 9th Circuit said sure, count the vote even though Reinhardt was not alive at the time the opinion was filed.

A statue honoring Christopher Columbus was vandalized this weekend in the San Diego area's Chula Vista.
According to police, officers were called to Discovery Park around noon after neighbors reported that someone poured red paint over the statue. When officers arrived they also found the words “genocide” and “FU” spray painted onto the figure. A brass plaque that used to be attached to the statue was also missing.

In Jackson, MI, transgender man Niki Joly became a gay hero in 2016 and 2017 after he managed to put on a gay festival and have ordinances dropped that discriminated against gay people. The local paper named him Citizen of the Year. But that was not enough attention for Joly because police finally arrested him for arson for burning his own house down in 2017. That fire killed his three cats and two dogs.

We all remember how when George W. Bush was president he was ruthlessly treated by his political opposition. Senator Harry Reid (D-NV), in particular, stood second to no one in expressing his utter disdain and contempt for "43" every chance he got. But in an interview with CNN's Dana Bash that aired this week, the former leader of the US Senate is now singing a different tune:
