I don't really know how far to the left Nancy Pelosi is, perhaps further than she lets on. But my guess is that she's not very happy about the radical wing of the Democratic Party, the one whose members stayed seated when President Trump said in his SOTU address that the U.S. will never become a socialist country. They have a name, too: Justice Democrats. It's the latest euphemism for the radical left. The American public may have finally caught on to the previous euphemism, "progressive."

As one of my less savory duties for LI readers, I get to watch things like Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) formally announce her 2020 presidential campaign.  As we like to say, I watch, so you don't have to . . . though you can, of course—the video is embedded below. There were many interesting things about her Saturday announcement, but perhaps the most interesting didn't take place in Lawrence, Massachusetts, but in the media coverage of her announcement.  Even in Warren-friendly publications, the weight of her questionably-motivated presentation of herself as a Native American throughout her career hangs in the air around her like an albatross carcass, stinking up even her proudest moment as she announces her run for the Democrat nomination for president.

The media loves to talk about women. We are reminded daily about the historic number of women elected to Congress as Democrats in November. Women Trump supporters don't get nearly as much attention, but new data suggests their support for the president hasn't wavered.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a character familiar to anyone who has spent substantial time on campuses in the past two decades She's a walking, talking social justice warrior soundbite machine, someone whose knowledge is a mile wide and an inch deep. Social media, where she excels, is perfect for shallow but woke wisdom.

Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam has told his top staffers that he will not resign despite the amount pressure from other Democrats in light of racist yearbook photos. From The Associated Press:
A senior official in Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam's administration says the governor has told his top staff that he does not plan to resign over a racist photo despite intense pressure to step down. The official says Northam told his Cabinet during a Friday afternoon meeting that he intends to stay. The official was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.

A woman named Meredith Watson has come forward and accused Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax of raping her in 2000 when both attended Duke University. This comes days after Professor Vanessa Tyson claimed Fairfax sexually assaulted her in 2004 at the DNC Convention.
