The lesson of nominating Mitt Romney for president is that it doesn't matter how objectively nice a Republican presidential candidate is, the media and Democrats will portray the person as a monster. Romney was portrayed as someone whose main attributes were that he gave a woman cancer and kept women in binders. His decency on the campaign trail was not rewarded. The media swarmed to ensure his defeat.

Friday, former Trump Campaign Adviser George Papadopoulos was sentenced to 14 days in jail. The sentence is out of the norm for such offenses, but the judge wanted to make an example of Papadopoulos. Papadopoulos was sentenced to two weeks behind bars for, "for lying to the F.B.I. about his contacts with Russian intermediaries before the 2016 election, with the judge saying he wanted to send a message to the public about the consequences of impeding an inquiry of national import," reports The New York Times.

The only thing worse than pulling a poorly planned and horribly executed political stunt is doubling down on your failure when everyone knows you've failed. Sen. Cory Booker should know. Thursday, Sen. Booker claimed he was intentionally breaking Senate Committee rules by improperly releasing confidential documents, leading to thorough, justified, and humiliating smackdown by Sen. John Cornyn. Later, it was revealed the documents Booker released had already been cleared, that Booker knew they'd been cleared but pretended he had gone rogue nonetheless.

The deplatforming of Alex Jones by social media sites should disturb you whether you are a fan or not. I've never been a fan of Jones or his Infowars site. I've never gotten past the time Jones led an angry mob against Michelle Malkin in 2008. Still, if this can be done to him it can be done to anyone.

The economy continues to grow as it added 201,000 jobs in the month of August and unemployment remained steady at 3.9%. Wages went up 2.9% from August in 2017. August 2018 is the 95th straight month that the economy has added jobs. Experts predicted 192,000 jobs and a 3.8% unemployment rate.

The internet mob attack on Zina Bash was the lowest point in days filled with low points of disruptions and protests against Brett Kavanaugh. Bash, a former law clerk to Brett Kavanaugh whose husband is a U.S. Attorney appointed by Trump, was singled out because she supposedly flashed a white supremacist hand signal while seated behind Kavanaugh during the hearings. As Kavanaugh's confirmation hearings continue, Democrat desperation is reaching a fever pitch. In a last-ditch effort to spoil the inevitable confirmation, Democrats are claiming Kavanaugh's ascension to the bench will leave women, especially minority women, without birth control.

To Understand the behavior of Democrats during the Brett Kavanaugh hearings, you need only look to the people who are making demands of them. The Democratic base does not want Kavanaugh confirmed, and even though Democrats know there is nothing they can do to stop it, they are trying to appear as though they are making an effort.

The right-wing Sweden Democrats (SD) are surging in polls ahead of the Swedish general election on Sunday. The final YouGov poll suggests the party will win nearly 25 percent of the vote becoming the largest party in parliament, beating the ruling Social Democrats (SAP). So far, most polls show Sweden Democrats emerging as the second largest party.

God bless Senator Cornyn. He's a perpetually undervalued member of the upper chamber. Thursday, during Day 3 of the dog and pony show we're calling a Supreme Court Justice confirmation hearing, Sen. Cory Booker (junior Democrat Senator from New Jersey) used his time to say he would knowingly and purposely release confidential documents obtained by the Senate Judiciary Committee, documents that supposedly proved Kavanaugh a horrid and unfit person for the highest bench in the land.
